The outfit that you are referring to are likely using genuine P4P criteria, which heavily relies on familiarization, and the eye test..... and is centered around who would likely win in a fight..... I wouldn't take any of them as gospel, they all have different criteria.

A Ward/Bute fight was never a real option.

Ward didn't believe Bute was a worthy challenger but that's moot because he was injured when the fight was being discussed and couldn't have fought Bute anyway.......props to Froch to stepping in to redeem himself after losing to Ward.

This simply isn't true. At the press conference Ward said he had no interest in fighting Bute. He even suggested that Bute fight Froch. Dude didn't think a Bute was worth it.
However once the Bute and Froch deal was signed out comes Ward saying he was disappointed that the fight with Bute wasn't made etc etc.

We're both in agreement that Ward didn't think very highly of Bute. Ward's comments weren't the deciding factor in the fight not happening though. What killed the possibility of the fight during that time was Ward's broken hand, an injury he sustained during the training camp for the Froch fight.
