Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Promoter: A Fight With Amir Khan Would Be Huge!

Tom Loeffler, promoter for WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs), would be far from disappointed if Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) pulled off a major upset by defeating Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs) for the WBC middleweight crown on May 7th.

IF and that's a big IF Khan beat Canelo, then it would be a huge fight with Golovkin.

I haven't complained in the past but this would be an embarrassment and absolutely senseless. Loeffler is out of his mind with this idea. So what would that mean? Khan has to move up an additional 5 lbs or GGG would have to meet at 155? Either way it's really silly to see these two in a ring.

Agreed, Khan would probably go down from GGGs jab alone. Then again, if Khan insists on holding on to that belt.. what choice would Golovkin have but to KO Khan? - This is why cws should never be allowed in title fights.

If kahn beats canelo what i doubt he will be able to beat anybody. Canelo is bigger than GGG so it would be ok. It would be a huge fight for boxing hystory

The Canelo vs Khan fight is embarrassing enough, I wish the fighters would fight people their own size rather than dragging fighters from lower divisions up...
