Anyone think James Toney stands a chance against Wlad Klitschko if they were to ever fight? I think Wlad would beat Toney worse than he beat Byrd.

The Toney that fought Jirov might have a chance against Klitschko, but the guy we have been seeing lately will get his damn fool head punched in. Klitschko has fast hands and a long reach, Toney would need perfect timing to work himn on the inside and not get hit. Against Rahman we clearly saw that his timing was as bad as his fitness.

Wlad should be ready to fight soon, since he didn't get hit tonight. Most other contenders will be busy. Could Toney fit in a fight with Wlad or would this ruin his chance to wait on the winner of Rahman-Maskaev. Anyway I think this would be a shame to watch because even if Toney is tougher to hit than Byrd he will get stuck early and often nonetheless.

I never thought he stood a chance and I don't think that will change. After watching Wladimir beat on Byrd, it still didin't change my perception of this prospect matchup.

Byrd stood there, and tried to rope a dope. If you dig up the thread made that read over ten thousand views.....you'd see my arguement.

That "Opossum" style would not have any effect on Wlad, and Toney doesn't punch hard enough to even bother him.

He would get knocked out for the first time in his career.

.....not a bad idea. Toney claims he will fight anybody, so let him fight Klitschko. He also claims the Klitschkos are overrated. I'm not so sure Chris Byrd concurrs with that view. Toney is without a doubt the biggest talent in the division, but it takes more than talent to win fights. We will see if his talent can overcome his reckless disregard for fitness.

are you insane? jirov and toney was an even fight until the last few rounds. and jirov is a cruiser. imagine if that was a superheavyweight with fast hands..forget it. toney would get murdered

I think Byrd is better than Toney.

Wlad will KO Toney if Toney is out of shape. Wlad will win UD if Toney is in shape, though a KO is still likely.

No way. first off, toney has a great chin. Secondly, he will have a gameplan to beat wlad and he will follow it. He also has great defense.

After tonite, id favor wlad, but if toney comes in at a reasonable weight, picks his shots and plays the counter punching game against the ropes he has a chance to win a close decision.

There is also a possibility that toney gets stopped, but definitly not in the fashion byrd did.

That is a very impressive stat and everyone need to respect it. And he has surely fought many excellent punchers among those 70+ fights. But none of them hit as hard a Wlad and none of them had his reach. Maybe you're right and he could take twelve rounds of it. I'd like to see. In that video aired hear last week he said he'd fight anybody. Wlad has the same attitude and we would all pay to see it.

.....Wlad would knock out Toney as easily as he did Byrd tonight. No way he can avoid Wlad's shots. Hell, ****ty assed Guinn had his moments and when he actualy threw shots he landed. Jirov found him as well for **** sake. Toney would be brain damaged if he fought Wlad and that's the far worse matchup than Wlad/Byrd. Wlad would absolutely kill that fat little ****er. I will pray to the gods that Wlad gives Toney a shot at his title. If he made that fight I would dance naked in the streets from dusk til dawn. Toney needs to get KTFO just like Byrd did. That would be so precious to me. Seeing Toney face down on the canvas and all ****ed up would be fan ****ing tastic. Toney will Never fight Wlad if he has any sense at all.
