Kovalev seems to enjoy inflicting pain

He strikes me as the type who enters the ring to hurt an opponent rather than win in style. Not only that, but he is proud of being vicious. I understand it's the nature of the sport, but with most fighters they show some concern at the end of the fight and view any injuries their opponent sustains as a regrettable outcome of the fight. Kovalev seems like a bloodthirsty psychopath with no empathy or humanity towards anyone. This is what he posted on his twitter:

Lots of boxers are like that, it is a violent sport which many get into to redirect their anger, aggression and rage, and to prevent them from fighting on the streets, or even killing someone. Kovalev is just an example of a high level boxer who still has the mentality of a person who recently turned to boxing to redirect their rage.

Other boxers like that in the ring included Tyson, Ray Mercer, even Naseem Hamed was a vicious, merciless dude who loved to KO people. David Haye recently said that he wanted to get back into boxing because he hadn't knocked anyone out for 3 years and he really missed it etc.. Kovalev isn't particularly standout in that regard imo.

He's usually respectful towards opponents. When he wants to really hurt somebody it's because they disrespected him, like Pascal. His viciousness only helps him in his profession, it's an asset and it makes him successful at what he does.

Kov is a straight up badass, it's crazy how he isn't a superstar when the guy gives you everything you want in the sport of boxing as a professional fighter.
Not too many guys currently can make a claim they can truly box while holding some kevlar steel in their fists.

I don't see the problem. Anyone remembers the way Tyson prolonged the Biggs fight just so he could make him cry like a little girl. Having these types of fighters in the sport helps.

Aslong as he's not dragging the fight along like vs Pascal then I'm good, it's a good mentality to go out there looking to *** the other guy up instead of a lovetap and run victory.

When fighters kill or permanently injure someone in the ring, usually it takes something away from them. People say Nigel Benn was never quite the same after what happened to McClellan or Eubank wasn't the same after what happened to Watson.

Kovalev actually killed a guy yet he seems to still have very bad intentions inside the ring and enjoys hurting people.

I thought you were gonna say 'as long as he's not dragging the body around the ring after he knocks them out'...imagine he did that. Drags the body in to his trunk and buries it alive somewhere in Russia.
