it looked like wladimir had actually gotten pissed from byrd's defensive slapping, waited for a few moments, then dropped an a-bomb on byrd's ass. he seemed more comfortable with inside fighting as well by slipping out of a clinch quickly and actually working the inside late in the fight. bravo to that.

respects to byrd for being a gracious loser. respects to my boy klitschko for looking very impressive.

....The entire division is in deep ****!!!! Wlad is where he always belonged and I dare anyone to step in the ring with him at this point. He is seasoned, he got through his low point, he is balanced now, and he is ready to make the division his for the next several years. Not only that, but he has fought three times in the last year. An active, exciting, talented heavyweight champ of the world. What the **** more could boxing fans ask for????? After putting up with inactivity, ****y champs(Byrd,Ruiz), and a lack of excitment, even the haters should be jumping up and down at Wlad taking this **** over with authority. I want Rahman to be the next victim if he gets by Maskaev.

I did kind of want the fight to go on until Byrd turned around after the second knockdown and had a Vitali like gash over his eye. Great performance by Wlad and great heart by Byrd.

Lets not go crazy. We all knew that Wlad hit hard and had the skills on offense. It was the other stuff, such as the CHIN that was the question. Byrd did not have the power to hurt him, and if he did, he couldnt land anything anyway, he hardly even tried for that matter. Either way, it's good that Wlad won impressively. Its a start, leave it at that. Remember what happened with Vitali, a lot of us fans were praising him for what WE THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO DO. So lets not count our chickens before they hatched yet so to speak.

Byrd was never able to get started. Throught the first three rounds when Byrd would get on the inside Wladimir would hold and grab. Merchant called it clinching, no Larry it was holding and the referee began throwing the cautions.

Wladimir began pushing Byrd away instead of grabbing and keep Byrd at the end of his shots. The knockdowns were from very good shots and Wladimir proved to be the much superior fighter in the bout.

The first time that Wladimir landed his right hand, Byrd took the shot and then was frozen in time. Watch the fight again and you will see Byrd eat the shot and freeze. That was an instant indication of what was to come.

The stoppage in my opinion was a good one in my opinion. Byrd had never gotten into a groove and Wladimir it seemed no longer could miss with a shot. The cut was a bad one, the fight for Byrd was a horrible one and the fashion that Byrd was handled by Wladimir was even worse.

Byrd looked flat from the start, with the holding only keeping him from what he had to do, which was press Wladimir. Byrd lost fair and square, every round and every exchange it seemed to me. The stoppage was fine.

yes, they shouldn't have stopped the fight, i would have let it go for another round so that byrd could have been carried out on a stretcher.
