oh yeah, he was doing a great job lulling wlad into a false sense of security, being dropped twice, eating jab after jab after jab, sucking up almost every right hand thrown, bleeding from his likely broken nose, and not landing a single noteworthy punch.

It wasnt that he was SOO HURT that it couldnt go on, but I guess the stoppage was based rather on a combination of things, he was hurt and wobbly, cut wide open, was hardly even throwing anything much less landing. Also Wlad was hitting him at will, there was over 2 minutes left and the beating from thereon would've gotten worse. I at first questioned the stoppage but if it was really premature there wouldve been much more of an uproar about it from Byrd and his corner.

holy ****! - did you guys see that arsenal of punching klitschko starting using from round 5 onwards? he was throwing strong rights, uppercuts from both hands, shovel-hooks, downward swooping overhands, etc. i can only hope byrd doesn't have brain damage from that. he already has to get his eye stitched up.

it looked like wladimir had actually gotten pissed from byrd's defensive slapping, waited for a few moments, then dropped an a-bomb on byrd's ass. he seemed more comfortable with inside fighting as well by slipping out of a clinch quickly and actually working the inside late in the fight. bravo to that.
