Half of them hate him because of his twitter posts about Stevenson.. that they call racist but refuse to consider the chances Stevenson does look like a ****ing monkey and runs around like one. Then they claim "he called Sillakh a N*#$%& in russian" No.. he called him a negro not Ni....

His trainer is black, he's fairly good friends with Hopkins.

But whatever.. Mike Tyson was a racist ****head towards whites, doesn't mean I'm gonna hate him for it. He was entertaining to watch.

Yea, and there's a bit of hypocrisy in that Hopkins made racial comments and get gets more of a pass than a white man saying it. It's disgusting to see people ignore one and crucify a guy for another. I don't approve either way and I think it's douchey to resort to racism in sports, but if fans want to criticize a boxer as a human being they need to be consistent with the racists, the criminals, the wife beaters, etc.

I don't blame the guy at all. He's doing everything expected of him. I just think guys like the one below get emotional when you question the level of competition. I question the fans more than Kovalev. It's healthy to question things (not speaking to you here Kev as you know this well). I'm critical of my favorite fighters and I don't know why people are sooooo adverse to that. Must we lie about someone just because we like them? They're not our damn family members FFS.

Funny enough, very few people here talk shyt about Kovalev. I've never seen him get the flack that much more accomplished fighters get. But, if you even question his holiness or say something objective like, "his comp hasn't been the greatest" fanboys turn red and throw violent fits. Really odd.

Did they ever!!! Duva is inexplicably bad. Like the boxing equivalent to a corrupt politician. I think Kovalev could really be a star if he were handled by more flexible mgt and allowed to shine.

Past 4 fights:

Pascal (x2)
Hopkins
Mohammedi


All these guys are relatively small, not much power, none of them have a true LHW frame. Pascal-Hopkins have been on the decline since '10, while Mohammedi has a glass chin. He may fight Ward next, another smaller guy who might be past his prime.

-Hopkins really struggled against Karo Murat, very competitive fight. He dominated Shumenov after that but let's face it, dude was garbage (schooled by Campillo) and was tailor made for Hopkins' style.

-I also thought Pascal looked like ***** against post-Froch Bute who was just coming off a close fight with Denis Grachev. He wasn't able to drop him despite landing some very clean punches, very unimpressive performance.
Pascal also arguably should've lost to Gonzales.

The best true lhw Kovalev has defeated was Cleverly, another guy who had a very competitive fight with Karo Murat (terrible stoppage) and doesn't hit that hard.


Light heavy has some big, hard hitting durable guys in it and I think Stevenson-Kovalev are in for a shock when they do fight them.
Beterbiev, Shabranskyy, Barrera, Gonzales, Gvozdyk, Browne, etc. all these opponents are more dangerous than anything either guy has faced at 175.

I agree, as should most other boxing fans. Unfortunately since Kovalev is a fan favorite he's not held to the same standards as most elite boxers. Sucks too, because he actually is pretty good. But his resume is indeed weak, but still not as bad as Golovkin's.
