And the result was the same.

Not tapping when you've got no escape is simply foolish.

McGregor's ground game (according to several trainers who were discussing it yesterday on air), is much better than many realise. However, when you run out of gas, then get hurt, you literally have nothing left in a ground situation. You're not breaking a fully locked choke against a BJJ black belt at the best of times, you've got no chance when your tank is empty.

Perhaps. Fact is, he still quit. Whether or not Conor forfeiting was justified is another argument.

You seem to be ignoring the part where Holly Holm was tapping. The referee being late on the breakup doesn't mean she didn't tap. Does anyone watch fights anymore, or do they just talk about it?

Anyway, that's nothing against her whatsoever, or Conor - when you're getting the life choked out of you, there's nowhere to go. There's no honor in blacking out - only dead brain cells.

Besides, there's quitting in boxing all the time. Every time someone takes a knee, or is a little too slow getting up off the deck and the fight is waved off..it's quitting. Just a different kind of quitting to when someone has a vice grip around your blood supply.

People are way overestimating his poor Jiu Jitsu. Obviously know little about it. He got an X guard sweep on Nate in the first round. If you arent a top, world class JJ guy, you are never even attempting it, let alone pulling it off, on a black belt guy as good as Nate. That's world class **** there.

Nate was just one of the best JJ at lightweight, and once he was on top, he was always going to win. He's very, very slick and smooth. The stuff Nate did was really top level JJ and Conor has no chance being as hurt as he was too.

He either got KTFO standing up or he took it down in a panic wrestle and got submitted. He obviously chose the latter 'easier' (read less painful) route to defeat. I'm a little surprised that Nate didnt ***** slap GNP him a bit more for all the **** talking, but he's a true pro when it comes down to it.

that wasnt the only time she was in a choke hold....she kept trying to get out of it. She tapped when it was locked in and she was about to pass out

McGregor gave his back, didnt attempt wrist or arm control, laid on his stomach, nectk exposed. He didnt even try to get out of it

He is supposed to be a figher, a martial artist and just laid their. Also Diaz didnt have it locked in and he was still laying their doing nothing.

              Look like he quit...holm didnt

                Not the same......

Tate is weaker for one.. and for two, holm was farther into the crook of tate's elbow. McG was having his throat pressed upon laterally by Diaz Forearm. Other poster besides myself have confirmed the very same thing.

What this spells out is differences in pressure being applied. Holm, being in the crook of the elbow, had a more gradual, encompassing and restricting pressure being applied..whereas Micky G had crushing pressure being applied on the front of his throat and windpipe.

Saying every choke is the same is similar to saying every jab is the same. There are nuances in placement and execution....

The funny thing is, had Connor won, this forum would have been full of posters bitc*ing and complaining about why are we discussing this on a boxing forum!?

Being that he lost, there's threads with 30+ pages dedicated to it. Just goes to show you how insecure some boxing fans are.

BTW- Connor and Holm losing isn't a blow to UFC. UFC strives due to its excitement and unpredictability unlike in most boxing matches nowadays. Unlike in boxing, mma fans don't abandon and dismiss their fighters as "bums" after a loss.

refusing to tap only to get put to sleep or your arm broken doesnt make u any better. it just shows how weak minded u are. its ok to lose, train harder and get the w in the rematch. thats how a strong minded person think. if u are in a position where u know u cant get out and u refuse to tap, what do u gain from it? a nice quick much needed nap on the mat in front of miliions of people?
Its not ok to lose.....You dont train your ass off just to quit in the end. Im living breathing ok and have been in that position and kept trying or it was lights out. different strokes for different folks...I took pride in not

To be honest, its an insult to real martial artists to call some of those MMA guys martial artists. Guys like GSP, Lyota Machida, etc. I have mad respect for

80% of the MMA fights I've seen looks like two people of the street attempting moves they saw on T.V....cant parry a jab, get out of a simple yoke, or know how to get out of submissions altogether, how to check low kicks or block high ones. Do they give out black belts out at wal mart now? there are very few true martial artists in MMA or UFC....You'll never see a fighter with no amatuer career win a world title in boxing(which is a martial art) in 4 fights like Lesner.
