Would Gennady Golovkin, consider this... But keep it a secret...

Opportunity knocks, What and Why ?

    What ???

When GGG fights Wade, he has the opportunity to test himself..... DROP DOWN TO 157 ( Or more? ) on the weigh in date, then rehydrate to around 159.5 a few hours before the official weigh in... Tell no one about this test run...

    Why ???

Because finding out how Gennady's body will react at a catch weight on fight night vs Canelo might not be the smartest time to do it....

He can experiment on himself against a still developing Dominic Wade...
To learn how he can handle himself at around 157 pounds against a less dangerous opponent...

Canelo wants the catch weight in the fall... If Canelo Alvarez drops the belt, a catch weight is essentially certain for any future blockbuster Canelo/GGG fight...

If a catch weight is the only road to Canelo, GGG could use the experience because that's likely the reality...

You never take your opponent for granted in Boxing, (or any combat sport for that matter) handle your business.

    This is lunacy.

Perhaps Canelo asking for a catch weight of 155, while the Champion of the 160 pound Middleweight division is lunacy ???

It's only about 3 pounds, in the lighter divisions that's a higher impact... At Middleweight, not so much....

I get the boxing etiquette.... But Wade at 157 is much less a task than Canelo at 155...
Not to disrespect Wade, but he's not ready for GGG just yet...

It's not wise to take any opponent for granted. But I do agree that GGG needs to test the waters at some point. Canelo's one significant advantage is his experience of the weight cut. I'm sure Golovkin can get to 155 if he has to, but he really doesn't know how his body is going to react.

It is lunacy what Canelo is doing.................but GGG and his team ALLOWED it.

Why should I feel any sympathy for them if they allowed this stuff to transpire?

You don't take any fighter for granted. If GGG really wants that belt, then comply to Canelo's demands and beat his ass.

Cantelo won't fight him so it doesn't matter.

They don't have any choice if they want the fight. What's ridiculous is that in any sport a guy can change the rules on a whim just because he's popular. It makes the sport into a joke.

You don't take chances like this in world championship fights. Wade maybe a huge underdog but he is still a ranked professional fighter that will be at his best on fight night.

You don't play around with boxing, I don't care who you are.

                    No.

They had a choice, they just wanted to fight either Cotto or Canelo to have a big fight, the belt was just a extra.

If they really wanted the belt, you don't accept Cotto's step aside money.
If they really wanted the belt, they refuse to allow Canelo to have this voluntary defense.

They allowed all this because they want a big fight.

                    If they had a choice:
                    - Fight Canelo, no belt on the line or,
                    - Fight some jobber for the belt.

Which one you think they take? It's a rhetorical question.
