The guy who is "defending" in a bumfight against a slapping opponent who is 3-3 in his last six fights is criticizing somebody else's opposition. Effing rich

He didn't look drained but i still think he would be better off at 160. The fact is once he starts going above 155, people will say there's no excuse for him not to fight Golovkin. He would rather fight at 155 and say he's not a full middleweight even if its killing him to make 155, whatever it takes to avoid GGG.
I think it's nonsense anyway, if you're above 154 then you're a middleweight up until 160, so fight as one. The whole point of a weight class it has a certain number of weights within that class where you find your comfortable weight, so that couldbe 155, 157, whatever, as long as it's under 160. So even if you're weighing 156, by the rules you should still fight someone even if they're 160.
Canelo makes a mockery of the belt, the history and the weight classes of the sport.
I'm actually a bit of a Canelo fan but i can't defend him when he's posing as a middleweight champion but won't fight a middleweight at the proper limits.Comment

He didn't look drained against Cotto because Cotto was 20lbs lighter than him and had the usual Freddy Roach inspired game plan - come forward and push the opponent back.
It made for an entertaining match, but it allowed Canelo to fight his kind of fight without needing to adjust or work harder than he wanted to work, because Cotto just wasn't big enough to hurt him.
I noticed something though - Canelo couldn't hurt Cotto either, despite catching him **** on repeatedly. At neloweight, Canelo himself lacks power in his punches.
A fighter with Canelo's style and approach needs to be able to hurt his opponents when he hits them flush. If he stopped draining himself down 20lbs lower than his fighting weight it could give him the pop he needs and is missing now.Comment
