Roy was never a big draw. Unfortunately.

Roy went almost a decade where he didnt really fight anyone of note. He wouldnt have stolen any PPV's from mayweather.

In this scenario, I don't think Floyd and Manny could delay fighting each like they did if they wanted to keep their high star status. Also, Roy would assume the role of the #1 flashy, trash talking black fighter. Floyd wouldn't exactly be a Broner to Roy's Floyd so to speak (Floyd would still be undefeated), but Floyd's antics depend on being #1 in order to work to their fullest.

There werent any other big stars at 175 for a long time other than D.M. and that didnt happen. Nobody is going to skip Floyd vs Hatton because the Roy Jones vs Otis Griffin fight is coming up.

And DM was definitely not a big star. Not in the U.S. anyway.

With Memes and Gifs, Roy would have been the much bigger star. Also, much better rap songs. Roy was just 10-15 years too early. That Toney move he pulled would have lit up Instagram for days, and everybody on worldstar would be imitating. Add in the dancing during fights and the entire social media would be on fire after every fight.

A prime RJJ would kill FMJ if they were in the same weight bracket/or to match up. Though, I think RJJ started as a Middleweight in the pro ranks? correct me if I'm wrong.

Watch RJJ vs. Vinny Pazienza, one of my favorite fights at Middleweight.

Roy never generated that much revenue.. He only had 3 major PPv fights in his glory days-toney, ruiz, tarver 1 and none of those ever broke 500k.
After the toney win, roy basically milked hbo and fought no-hopers, never generated much buzz from 95-03.. It wasn't till he fought ruiz that he had a major PPv event. Then Tarver after that.. Roy could have set records had he stayed at heavyweight and fought evander, tyson, lennox..

Floyd took more big fights and more legit opponents.. And floyd was a much more marketable fighter due to the money may persona...

Roy seemed to coast a lot during his prime, while floyd kept upping the ante and increasing his brand and revenue..
