It's superhard to choke a guy that is also well trained and can knows how to defend.. I train in bjj but am no expert, and it's amazing what black belt level guys can do..
Example of what skills there are- it's mostly about positions of arms, leverage, especially for things like arm triangle, or triangle, anaconda. If you have a guy in a triangle but don't have it properly sunk in, or don't have his arm across, your not going to get the choke.. I'm probably not explaining it to well, but trust me, if it was so easy to land these chokes, everyone would be doing them. There is a lot of skill n technique to land them, especially guys trained to defend them.

Saying there is no skills in chokes, is like someone saying there is no skills in the jab, anyone can do it.. What's so hard about snap a punch out real quick.. No skill... We both know that's not the case with the jab
I think you've done a fine job of explaining. That's helpful. I will say that the chokes and the grappling moves do seem to be most effective against opponents who have a weak ground game or against exhausted opponents in many cases. These are clear indications of what you're describing. It makes sense.

Fixed and I didn't say the fights weren't exciting to watch, I said they weren't as exciting as a good boxing match like the fights I mentioned. Take the edgar vs maynard fights, I enjoyed those fights because they were back and forth but I still dont think the quality was the same as a Ward vs Gatti - not even close.

Boxers, random promoters & random managers need less control. Thats just the reality. And the sport will be better for the top boxers legacy, better for the fans & a more competitive sport that will garner a whole new generation of fans when this happens. And sure the 2 or 3 tip top guys might only get $10M-$15M+ instead of $30M-$100M+, but the overall upside for the sport of boxing would be huge/
Tough job but it can happen. But remember Conor was the first UFC fighter to get a $1mm purse in UFC history. UFC model is good for fans, bad for fighters..

UFC model isn't good for fans really. PBC's pseudo control should be proof - have too many fighters under one roof, there becomes the problem of keeping them active, amongst other problems. The UFC cards have been garbage for the last few years.

I think a hybrid model would serve the sport the best. Have the PBC be the central "hub" if you will. with options for all other promoters to have their fighters on PBC cards if they would like..

A disclosed $1M purse. Its well established UFC guys get PPV points as far back as 2007 when Randy Courture released the details of his contract with the UFC. Many guys (& Ronda Rousey) have made 7 digit paydays & a couple have supposedly made 8 digit paydays for one fight (GSP being one of them). And the UFC has even given 7 digit locker room bonuses. Frank Mir has gone on record he was one of the guys who has received a $1M locker room bonus.

I do believe there is more money in boxing than MMA so if boxing ever did build a UFC model it stands to reason the fighters would make more than UFC guys still, if they gave fighters the same % of the overall take that the UFC does. I don't think it'd be bad for fighters per se. It'd be bad for the Manny's, Floyd's & those $10M+ per night guys, but for most boxers I believe they'd likely be paid more & for sure more exciting fighters would likely be making more money sooner in their career.

I love it how ever since Floyd retired, some of these "boxing fans" are coming out saying they're starting to like MMA more.
