To the people who run boxing - PLEASE GET YOUR **** TOGETHER.

Don't you feel embarassed that we are letting that garbage, ugly sport called MMA get more shine than us?

That the boxing nerds on this site are now saying they prefer that crap to boxing?

You hold the keys to a historical sport with so much potential. You have an incredibly privileged position - please use it to do good. I truly believe you all love the sport, you've just lost sight of it because of the politics, pettiness, etc.

Work together. Market the sport better. Market the fighters better. Think long-term. Match fighters better. Bring down fighters purses to restore their competitive spirit and hunger. Make fighters more active.

I still believe in the sport and will defend it, always. I took more sensory pleasure in the Vargas-Ali fight than those 2 UFC fights (choking people out until they signal they want to breathe now...really?)

I can feel that the market will open up soon. Quite frankly, the current structure of the sport is not gonna work. And if it's not gonna work, the money will dry up.

It's time we got our **** together. We are better than this.

Last year, boxing had a 4.4million PPV fight. The "people who run boxing" obviously did something right and did it 4x as right as any MMA event ever so let's not drift off into fantasy land....

May/Pac ****** becaus ethe fighters were at fault. Last night's UFC was great because it was an UPSET. If it went like the promoters planned, it would have been lame. Diaz overcoming is what made it great. It's up to the fighters to keep the fan's interest.

EDIT; I'll add that it's easier for promoters to make matches if they know their fighters are going to perform. We've got so many guys fighting conservatively that ratings are becoming an issue for promoters and networks.

The best refuse to fight the best in boxing. In the UFC they have to fight the top guys every fight. Then you have divas who ***** about weight also in boxing.

        I blame Mayweather for this

He set the bad example, by cherrypicking, ducking, giving us boring mismatches while being overpaid af, he's the reason the new upcoming stars are a bunch of ******* who dont want to take risks, overly concerned for keeping a ¨0¨

by screwing Arum, he was the main reason behind the bad blood between Toprank and Golden boy, a feud that has deprived us from many, many great matches for years, he also provoked the network feud with all his bull****. His ****ty, overly hyped and overly delayed match with Pacquiao was the last nail in the coffin for boxing.

Floyd is the root of all evil and bad state of boxing nowadays, that's why casuals prefer MMA. a sport where the top guys fight the top guys and the big fights actually get made

The Superfight shows the kind of potential we have. However, the Superfight also left a damaging legacy; you cannot read any boxing related thread/blog off this site without people laying into that fight. That fight left a lot of people mad.

The way I see it - and I admit that I hate MMA and have limited knowledge of it (and want to keep it that way) - is that it's a sport ripe for upsets because someone can be dominating for most of the fight and then let up and get choked out. Also, all these competitive fights they're thrown into means they're getting burnt out.

I am not sure about this best vs the best thing boxing keeps getting hit over the head with. How many keep busy fights did true greats like Duran and Chavez take? Every fight can't be a war otherwise fighters get burnt out.

I am not advocating the piss-poor matching that Haymon does. There's a happy medium that Arum (or rather Bruce Trampler) know how to make. Golden Boy are probably the best at it right now.

We do have to make better match-ups, though. And get fighters way more active.

The product in the ring is still the best and most unique thing in sports. Even another combat sport in MMA can't really compare to the feel of a great boxing event.

It's unbelievable that boxing has mismanaged that product so badly.

Peaks and valleys. Canelo/GGG is basically a matter of time at this stage.

Be careful not to sacrifice quality for excitement. Mayweather/Pacquiao was between the 2 best boxers of this Era and when you have great technicians fighting, they are skilled in defending themselves and setting traps so it becomes more difficult to create those openings while being aware that your opponent is looking to counter you.

Would you rather have Mayweather vs Bundrage on short notice with Bundrage landing a haymaker and shocking the world? That's basically what happened last night. Excitement but lacking quality.

In boxing we got the heavyweights, Ward/Kovalev, GGG/Canelo, Thurman/Porter, etc. in the works. Just stay patient.

Last night we had Douglas/Khurtsidze in an early FOY candidate and Vargas/Ali. The fights are there.

How we are not dead and buried is a testament to fact that the sport, at its in its purest form, is so special and unique. It has been so badly, badly run.

And all because there's a bunch of people with power who want it all their own way. And they're gonna take down each other and the sport if they're not careful.

I do still believe that the market is gonna open up once they realise the current model isn't sustainable. Hopefully Haymon fighters on HBO is a portent of things to come.

I know what you're saying. If I ever bring myself to watch that fight again, and purely from a technical perspective, I know there are interesting things going on that the casual eye can't pick up.

But honestly.....the legacy of that fight is a disaster. It cannot be redeemed. Any boxing blog on, say, The Guardian has about 40% of comments b*tching about that fight. It will forever be used as a stick to beat us up with.

By that point, Mayweather was about the "0" and nothing else, so had no commitment to delivering a great product. Then Pac is complaining about his shoulder. It probably would have been better if that fight wasn't made.
