  • Timing Beats speed it's a myth isn't it ?

This seems to be the most pulled out line on nsb especially when it comes to Amir khan bit is it true ?

Sure it happens, Garcia v Khan for example but we've also seen guys parachute into the arena and gusu jump through the ropes out of the ring.

With hundreds of fights every year to are going to a bit of everything but this idea that a slow guy can regularly bet a much faster fighter with similar reach is simple not true.

    Where are the examples ?

9 times out of ten the faster guy wins.

Timing can definitely beat speed. But of course it doesn't happen often because most fighters don't have the sense of timing or patience to make it count. The fast fighter can also make it more difficult by varying the speed and number of punches.

Why don't you give example to support your claim that it is a myth?

It depends on who the guy is. It beats Khan because while he's fast he lingers. He doesn't hit and move or hit while he's moving. He'll plant his feet and let off combos. That's why Garcia was able to catch him while looking down at Khan's feet....

Every fight, floyd, pac, roy jones, mosley, dhl etc etc ever won.

Fast guys win way more fights than slow guys.

It's because no one could time them

                  That's your example??????

                  Really?

Floyd, RJJ, Mosley, DLH didn't win every fight just because of their speed.

Timing is a attribute that not every fighter posses at the elite level.

every fight where a puncher knocked out a boxer was superior timing

that's what puncher vs boxer is really, one guy is timing the other trying to wait for that opening then ramming it home, the other is trying trying to build a quantity lead

IMO "chinny" "heavy handed" etc are the real myths in boxing, how you decide to use your energy determines your style, not the density of your hands/face
