What if GGG agrees on terms with Canelo, then pulls a Salido on the scales ?

This is a very unethical approach, but boxing has questionable ethics...

Perhaps GGG is legitimately is unable to make the weight ??? Perhaps he'd have no intention of making the weight ??? But the motives are irrelevant when they step in the ring.....

If GGG agrees to fight Canelo Alvarez at 155, (And is reasonably close in weight leading up to the weigh in, not sparking su****ion.) then steps on the scales at 157.5 (Or so) What happens ?

I'd asume GGG will lose $$$ as a penalty (As negotiated prior to signing the contract) and his credibility will become a issue at all future catch weight fights....

But I think that the pressure to continue the fight would be to great for Canelo to pull out at the 12th hour...

The WBC would have no say, as long as GGG was under the 160 pound Middleweight limit...

Canelo would still have to fight or vacate... What would Canelo do ?
Will his pride put him in the ring ?
(Like Lomachenko did when Salido was way overweight in their title fight.)

    Thoughts ???

Then he loses the opportunity to gain the belt he covets and probably fights for peanuts. Is it worth it? Dumb fans will say yes but the person fighting knows better.

Not true.... He still fights for the belt regardless.... 155 is not a recognized weight division, 160 is....
Canelo is the 160 pound WBC Middleweight division Champion... As long as GGG is at or under 160 pounds, it is still a title fight.... That's the Fact..

Even if it wasn't a title fight, GGG beats Canelo is epic for his career... He'll never fight for peanuts again. ( He's already beyond that now.) Canelo would have to chase GGG eventually, to gain redemption..

That scenario is moot because according to his whole team they want belts.

Debatable but fine. He gets the belt and fights for free. Everybody likes to work for free.
