I do agree that going out on your shield has gone out of favour.
Good examples being Hatton vs May and Macklin vs Jamie Moore and Sergio. From the outside and not getting punched in the face it easy to say 'go all in'. It is what we say in all other sports when a team or individual is in a seemingly certain losing position but boxing is not the same.
All fights are different though I suppose. A non-puncher will hardly ever be given the chance to go 'all in'. Hence why Paulie has had a few corner stoppages. I am sure he could have stuck it out against Hatton. Then there was Haye against Wlad. The argument for him was that he probably could have taken out Wlad if he landed clean at any point in the fight so it made sense to stick it out. Sort of agree with Alexander though he should have done more. Collazo went all in against Khan IMO.
There is always that sense for me that it is more noble to end a once in lifetime title tilt on your arse. Maybe that's why Brits had the reputation of being 'horizontal' back in the day when in America. Thought some of them were probably a bit mediocre.
