He says he wont give any advantages, really? So defending a middleweight title at 160 lb limit when you hold the belt is now giving up an advantage? I cant believe there is anybody that can support this foolishness, what a joke Canelo has become.

If Ward was mandatory to Golovkin's belt and Golovkin fought at 161 pounds, then sure, it would be comparable, but that isn't reality.
This is the other nauseating part. GGG fans carving out tiny bits of wiggle room to try and differentiate. The weight and belts are MINOR NATAS. I too don't think a title should be defended or unified under the max for the division.

What I find WORSE is when a fighter and his fans try and make tertiary issues primary issues as a method of defense. the primary issue is what things "a-sides" do to their opponents to make the fight in their favor.

GGG played the "a-side" card with Ward. Now, Canelo is doing the same to him. You guys can't b-tch and moan that Canelo is using his power to protect himself from losing when GGG and his team did the EXACT SAME F-CKING THING.

The secondary issue is what this fight is about. GGG wants the big payday. Just like others that wanted it, even if it is in a unification fight, he has to do some things to get that payday.

Trying to make the weight limit of a defense the issue is bogus-especially when most of us watched ODH, Floyd, Manny defend titles at weights below the max limit and didn't really complain.

The fact is GGG is not the star many of his fans thought he was. As such, he has to do what other fighters, many of whom are FAR superior and MORE accomplished than he, did; concede to the "a-side", make the fight, win and reap the glory from overcoming the obstacles in front of you.

I'm tired of motherf-ckers lowering the bar to achieve greatness for GGG. He's no different from any other fighter-prove your greatness in the ring.

Absolutely. Had he not acted like this toward Ward there are a lot of posters that wouldn't feel the way they do.

Everyone had to sacrifice to make a big fight. This guy and his team swears he's special. Bernard Hopkins had to freaking give up the one thing he so closely guarded for years (his independence) just to get into the MW tournament. He basically had to sign with the one guy he hated: Don King. You think GGG would ever take such a sacrifice? He won't even move up a division. They get no sympathy from me.

I knew he was two faced and talked out of his @ss even before that. Him and Chavez had agreed upon fight. Next thing u know GGG says no we don't. We want to add a $1,000,000 per/lb penalty. Which was afterwards. Chavez reluctantly agreed and then Bob Arum killed it.

Also don't forget Monroe was better then Lara a P4P top 20 boxer doe!!!

GGG on the other side would be #1 p4p and the biggest star in boxing by a landslide.

And he shouldn't have to, at least not financially. Golovkin still hasn't earned his stripes and should be ready to concede so we can get this fight done sooner than later.

Gennady himself mentioned the weight issue was all bs from Canelo's created to stir controversy. Logic would say Golovkin's side will need to bend over financially for this to happen.
