Might be an exaggeration by Chavez Sr
Still, in "a los golpes" he was clear about Jr wanting to do whatever he wanted, not gettin up early, choose the time to train, etc.

JCC Sr. is really not happy with Junior. Here's an interview where he says that Jr should retire:

Chavez made a huge mistake turning down all that money for the GGG fight. Sat out a full year and then came back to fight Fonfara in what was supposed to be a tune up fight for a small fraction of the money he would of gotten for GGG. He lost a year of his prime and still lost in embarrassing fashion with Mexicans turning on him starting a mini riot and throwing beers at him. He probably still loses if he fights GGG but he would of made guaranteed 12mil and the size difference would of been so huge in his favor he has a chance of going the distance instead of getting pummeled and quitting on his stool. Haymon got in his ear and made him a ton of promises and it backfired. That decision ruined his career he's pulling less ratings then he was on HBO right before he signed with Haymon, making less money and that loss to Fonfara ruined him. The year off from fighting while he beefed with Top Rank didn't help either it just made him fatter. There is no chance he is ever making 168 and it's not long before he splits with Garcia. Haymon ruined Chavez and Mikey Garcia. Look at where both these guys careers were at before Haymon came into the picture and look at them now.

SO WHAT. Jr is 30 ****ing years old. His father should shut the **** up and respect that Jr is an adult who makes whatever decisions he feels like. Sr treats him like he is still his underaged kid. Jr would batter and embarrass Sr right now in a fight.

                  Mentally injured, yes.

If Haymon was the genius businessman everyone says, he would've had a contract stipulation that Chavez be paired with Anne Wolfe 24/7.

Boxing is a joke all around. The inmates run the asylum, no one fights anyone, and the greedy pigs at the top make sure everything stays the same. F*** this sport, honestly. If there weren't so many rednecks in MMA, I'd just make the jump. Unfortunately I can't be watching illiterate hillbillies like Robbie Lawler and that guy that just beat Conor McGregor.
