Bob Arum/Top Rank have no leverage with HBO or Showtime

Arum did have TruTv, but that got cancelled very recently. People are forgetting that.Comment

None of these networks have an eternal deal with the PBC. So they could open up, it certainly stands to reason if the PBC is this huge deal people think its going to be that other people will want to get involved with boxing.
None of us know what other networks will do if HBO gets out of boxing. Starz lack of interest and Epix decision to get out of boxing a while back probably
has something to do with the fact that HBO owned big time boxing at the time.
If they get out, who knows who might be interested? That's my point.
Does UFC's success mean no one else will ever try to be successful at MMA? Of course not. And think of the head start Top Rank and Golden Boy have over Bellator or whatever that crappy MMA thing Spike shows.
The fact is, HBO getting out of boxing does not mean all the other promoters are going to quit and hand over valuable assets to PBC.Comment

One thing is for damn sure... no other network will allocate $20 million for boxing right off the bat outside of the PBC involved networks. That leaves GBP, Top Rank with a problem... little budget networks if that.None of these networks have an eternal deal with the PBC. So they could open up, it certainly stands to reason if the PBC is this huge deal people think its going to be that other people will want to get involved with boxing.

To be fair, they only used the Tru TV series as a prospect type show though. I have a feeling that if Bob Arum is shopping the bigger names his leverage will be quite a bit better.
But they did drop the ball with that series though.Comment

This is true. I don't think anyone is handing anyone 20 million dollars off the bat, nor should they. But all businesses go through adjustment periods. That doesn't mean they are going out of business.Comment

Yeah, chances are some of the networks currently televising the PBC won't be doing so once the current time buys are up.Whatever Network doesn't wind up with the PBC. If PBC is successful and all these channels are bidding for it, don't you think someone else would be interested in the Golden Boy/Top Rank/K2/Roc Nation etc universe? There are a bunch of non-ESPN cable sports channels (CBSSN, NBCSN, Fox Sports 1) that need programming.
I don't know enough to know what other premium channels are owned by Time Warner, but EPIX wanted to get involved with boxing in the past, Starz is there. It's also fair to point out if the PBC is successful Showtime will probably need fights too. I'd bet someone would want to get involved.
And chances are some of those networks may want to sit down and have a discussion with Top Rank or Golden Boy.Comment

There are little to NO chances any of these networks would want to discuss anything with TR or GBP. No reason = No chance.
The only variable will be agreement of pricing amongst PBC & the networks. PBC would rather ask for less and keep the network than ask for too much and risk the network going elsewhere.Comment
