I might not like Cotto for his RECENT career moves, however, Cotto at 22 was KNOCKING EVERYBODY OUT. Thats what future stars do with this type of opposition, thats why they fight these type of fighters, to MAKE NOISE, get noticed and intrigue people into debating whether theyd look impressive against top opposition as well.
VERDEJO IS MAKING NO NOISE at this point in his career. He is looking average against mediocre opponents. HOW THE **** will he be special in the big leagues when he doesnt even look remotely special against crap opposition? HE IS ALSO BORING which makes him completely useless.

When I got into boxing (only recently...2013), there seemed like so much to be excited about. I felt like both sides (Showtime and HBO) were putting on quality cards. Now we're getting what seem to me to be very low quality fights everywhere around the board. I also felt like Floyd and Manny, love em or hate em (and I've loved and hated them both at various times) brought excitement; their fights were like the big "playoff game" type moments in the boxing year. Now one's gone and the other is likely to lose and then retire. I just don't care about Crawford vs. no hopers and the entirety of the PBC. It's junk. There are still "can't miss" fighters like Canelo, GGG, Cotto, but it's not much. I was utterly bored by everything that was on today, and maybe it's just me :/. I am disappointed that I feel this way, because I've been super into boxing for the past couple years.
Don't lose hope, though, there are a lot of upcoming good/great boxers.

Frampton vs Quigg was a let down for most of the fight, Leo Santa Cruz vs Kiko Martinez was an entertaining mismatch, Ceja vs Ruiz II was too short and the ankle incident had me flustered and the HBO card was rather dull itself. If anything Shotime outdid HBO yesterday but neither has anything to boast about.
So much boxing, such low quality.
