I'm just watching it now, and HBo is borderline dog sh.it as far as match ups so far for the first 1/3 of the year

Take away the PPvs and they have

    Kov/Pascal
    Crawford / Lundy
    Ortiz/ Thompson
    Ali/Vargas
    Ward / Barrera
    GGG / Wade
    Verijo & Chicolito showcase fights

There seems to be 1 evenly matched competitive match up ( Ali/Vargas ) the rest are basically showcases. HBO is falling fast from the premier boxing channel but they do a great job at selling stories.

I bet if you compared showtime /HBo in the last 4-6 months that's showtime would have the better match ups and that's not even including the PBC.

There are still "can't miss" fighters like Canelo, GGG, Cotto, but it's not much. I was utterly bored by everything that was on today, and maybe it's just me :/. I am disappointed that I feel this way, because I've been super into boxing for the past couple years.
I feel your pain I became a hardcore fan in 07 which was another great year for boxing hopefully things pick up soon.

HBO's budget cuts doesn't mean PBC will be successful. It wouldn't shock me if the PBC folds and HBO gets out of the boxing business.

True but it's funny how people were speculating on PBC folding and it's HBO who is having the budget issues right now.

HBO is having budget issues, Time Warner is cutting back. But PBC has cut their schedule back like crazy as well. Both things can be true.

HBO has their reputation to fall back on though. Regardless of the crap they put on their channel, they are still able to draw 1M+ for their main events. PBC struggles to hit a million for any show that isn't on CBS, NBC, or FOX. Granted PBC ratings are for the entire show, while HBO breaks their ratings down per fight. I'm interested in seeing how HBO did tonight with SHO counter-programming with LSC-Martinez/Ceja-Ruiz II.

LSC-Mares/Ceja-Ruiz I did 1.2M on ESPN last year. We'll see where they end up with this SHO broadcast.

I feel the same, I became a hardcore fan in 2000. That year, we had:

                Barrera/Morales 1
                De La Hoya/Mosley 1
                Vargas/Trinidad

                I didn't bother watching tonight's fights.

It's only February; PBC put on over 40 fight cards, March-December, in Yr 1.

Excluding any fight cards for Showtime, there are already 9 fight cards booked for PBC. As the calendar fills in, your parallel becomes less and less true.
