  • Comments Thread For: Farhood Questions Logic of Khan Facing Canelo at 155 Limit

Showtime Boxing analyst Steve Farhood is trying very hard to figure out the logic behind Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) deciding to jump up in weight to face WBC middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs) at a contracted limit of 155-pounds.

Logically hes making a lot of money guaranteed from the fight, and has nothing to lose in terms of reputation win, lose or draw, Although he may lose a few brain cells in the process lol

      He has nothing to lose.

It's a completely risk free fight for him.

I disagree. There is a risk. It took Khan years to recover from the Prescott KO loss. If he gets blown out in a round again or two rounds, it will look very, very bad.

          No it won't.

People are already expecting that to happen, simply because of Canelo's weight advantage.

If he gets blown out, no one will really hold it against him. Sure, they'll laugh at him but that's it.

The only logic to question is the WBC allowing Canelo to defend his title in this fight, just like they let Mayweather defend his 154 belt when fighting Maidana. I'm glad Khan accepted the challenge and I wish him luck!

The logic is simple, make millions fighting Canelo, then make more millions fighting Brook, that's it.

                Risk free? Not really

People are expecting him to lose, but that's his own fault - exactly the logic that Farhood is questioning.

A knockout loss will set him back, again. This would be the 3rd time now. If he's banking on a Wembley stadium showdown with Brook after a KO loss, hes sadly mistaken. Itd still be a big domestic fight, but itd be no blockbuster. I dont think even Hearn would consider this a superfight with Khan coming off another KO loss.

If he goes 12 rounds and puts up a fair showing, then yeah, he'll get respect.. I think hes banking on this. But I agree with Farhood, its a pretty strange choice

IF Khan is as highly skilled a some here believe he should be able to survive 5-6 rounds.

If he is destroyed inside 3 rounds he will look ******...again.

                    The logic is simple really.

One kid needed a tune up fight.

The other kid needed a fight and money.
