That is actually the reason for the mismatches. You can get the lower level opponents to come fight for CHEAP while Arum fighter gets paid most of the money

I think there's more to it than what Arum is telling people and HBO rarely responds to that stuff in public. It makes zero sense for HBO to not want that card unless Bob's asking for outrageous money or he's trying to package something bad with it. I think if he takes it to Showtime (looking doubtful since Showtime looks committed to showing Chavez/Jack on April 30th), he'll be burning a bridge. HBO was putting in the investment to show Walters/Lomochenko by showing them in crap fights.
watttt? that was one of the worst fights of last year. prob was the worst. how did he look "great" he clinched nonshop and prevented anything compelling from happening. sure he opened up after the headbutt seemingly injured matthysse but the entire fight was completely unwatchable. why would hbo want another unwatchable fight?

See, this is the problem with boxing and it has been this way since the mid-90s and Roy Jones run on HBO. When you pay a guy millions to fight bums or average boxers, you just can't get them in the ring against a worthy opponent because they have no incentive for that.

HBo are shooting themselves in the foot with Crawford, the same way as they have done with Jones and Ward and co.

Rafael just said hbo wont buy the fight

HBO not buying Walters-Lomachenko isn't because they aren't interested, it is because Time Warner has put HBO Sports under a massive budget crunch. They have to decide if it is worth spending 7 figures to get that card vs. other programming (what gets the best ratings, etc.).

I was talking more about Crawford getting paid what he is for fighting who is.

And I'm glad HBO won't buy Walters/Loma if it means it brings down some of the purses involved. Both are good fighters, possibly very good and I'm a fan of Walters aggression and Loma's skill but if these guys are really asking for too much money to fight each other, then **** them. They can go fight on TruTV.

HBO is seriously going down the drain boxing-wise.

They produce great shows and have decent movies on their lineup. I recently saw Birdman on HBO Go. Great movie.

But their boxing content is lacking, and the stuff that is there is mediocre at best.

I can tell you with a straight face that it won't be long before HBO drops boxing from its lineup. Not long at all. They aren't profiting.
