It also undermines everything the sport is supposed to be about. You are taking a 51 yr old man and giving him a high profile fight that his last few performances clearly doesn't warrant. You are taking one of the top MW fighters and instead of forcing the fight the fans want, are desperately trying to hold it off just hoping you can recapture some of the "magic" that drove Floyd v Manny to record sales.

We as fans need to stop using words like ballsy or courage when a fighter gets overpaid to take a beating or a sure loss. Any fighter would take that opportunity.

Its not ballsy or courageous when networks use their resources to force these types of fights instead of the fights we want. It's corruption. It's greed. It's gluttony.

If Bhop and GGG fight it is not something to be praised.
You can call it what you like. I call it ballsy from Hopkins.
It's a rubbish fight, i have no particular interest in seeing it. But Hopkins has more guts at 50+ then a lot of the fighters out there now.

      3) Team Bull**** made that bold statement for THREE YEARS, and yet not once have I ever heard Gennady correct it..... like Mayweather/Ward/Bradley, and even Pacquiao, have all done

Come on man, the " Golovkin did not actually make that statement himself " excuse, is the very weakest of all the weak excuses that are available.

The best post in this thread ^^

That is a carnival fight, of no consequence.

Just like Canelo/Khan, which Golovkin himself rubbished about a week ago.

GGG has fought a bunch of Tomato Cans. I just saw his team in the back of Wal-Mart trying to get one of their workers to fight him in July. Said don't worry about being RANKED. The IBF will RANKED dead ppl for the right amount of
          $$$

Canelo ducked GGG to fight a chinless 140lber for the middleweight title...yeah cong****! lmao

also he needs 3 tune ups in his hometown to maybe fight kovalev so how do you figure he would jump straight up and fight a top guy in that guys backyard when he isn't doing it now? why are you ignoring reality?
Nobody said GGG shouldn't have tune ups if he wanted to fight Ward.If GGG said he wants a few tuneups before Ward, so be it, at least we're getting the fight which is how I feel with the Ward-KOvalev situation. I say he would if that was had to be done because I haven't know him to run from anybody, simple as that.

He's probably better off unifying MW belts or going after Canelo than multiple SMW tuneups. He tried to get some worthwhile tuneups at 168 including Wards best win Froch, but these guys would rather swerve him if they could

I feel GGG beats anyone that stands and trades with him which is why I wanna see him with Ward or Lara. I wanna see the contrast of styles. Why not entertain Lara if Lara says he'll come to 160. Call his bluff and if he just talking tough he'd be exposed. A Lara fight is nowhere near as bad as some make it out to be.

It's ok, but probably not worth Lara's asking price. If he really wants it, its simple, become IBF mando but then he can't ask for outsized purse. I don't see his style extra difficult for GGG, with his low output, so so power and chin. GGG knows how to handle runners. Froch might be even more favorable style wise, but he's still way more of a threat to win, by stoppage even

Well, we still have the Canelo fight. I'm good with that fight no matter the weight. GGG doesn't wanna go to 155 because of the belts. As long as the reason isn't because it'll hurt his performance then I'm all for it. Froch takes punches and would be trading with GGG, I wouldn't be picking Froch if the fight goes like that.
