Saying that 51 year old Hops would be the best on GGG's resume is sad enough, but the real problem is that GGG could have fought a MUCH better opponent at 168 but hid behind a multitude of excuses.

you seem to forget that ward actually turned ggg down. you aren't seriously considering the 50-50 in 15 months after ggg fights canelo offer legit are you? why would ggg agree to that before he fights canelo? that would be like floyd and cory spinks agreeing to a 50-50 split before floyd fought oscar. it's silly enough but giving spinks 50-50 after floyd fougth oscar? not accepting a silly offer is an excuse?

I'd rather not see that fight, if Golovkin is going to move up he should move up for better, but there's no doubting that it's a big name fight for GGG. It probably won't happen, though.

you do? based on what? first off ward has never ever been willing to travel so how do you figure he would go to his opponents backyard? he already turned down the froch rematch and a career high payday to fight in froch's backyard yet you still think he would move up in weight and fight in his opponents backyard hmmmm not logical.

also he needs 3 tune ups in his hometown to maybe fight kovalev so how do you figure he would jump straight up and fight a top guy in that guys backyard when he isn't doing it now? why are you ignoring reality?

Ward just loved the idea of 164!

But it's not sad saying a 51 yr old Hopkins would be the best on Ward's resume? GGG is above Ward in your mind already.

I see a small conflict of interest with these negotiations. GGG said he'd fight Hopkins if he could not secure a fight with Canelo or Saunders. However, Hopkins is Canelo's promoter. I could see this as a win-win for GBP. If Saunders prices himself out, GBP will demand a 155lb. catch-weight for Canelo. If GGG declines the catch-weight for Canelo, Hopkins gets a big retirement check for fighting GGG. Maybe I'm reaching, but it seems like it's in Hopkins' own interest to keep the catch-weight demand in place.

So, it's an option if Canelo and BJS don't want the fight?

I never was a fan of Hopkins, even back in the day. Being of his age though, and fighting Kovalev and willing to face Golovkin..that's ballsy. You can't knock that.
I think it's a fight he shouldn't take of course, as he's looking his age these days.

I agree with him in regards to Stevenson also.
