Its a bad time for boxing on HBO, HBO is looking to compete with netflix now so they upping all their original content by 50% (shows, comedies etc), that with HBO boxing budget being reduced and that ROMAN aint a draw to warrant 2 million I can tell you its a big fat hell NO!

Truth is roman is ducking that rematch hell everyone in boxing knows this. Its all fine and dandy to demand more pay for bigger fights but you have to be realistic within yourself and when someone is not realistic its either because they dumb or they are on a ruse (ducking the fight in a way that makes it look like something else is the reason not the actual fight) and I dont think Roman is a dumb person.

roman has to face it, he a lil dude the fans for those weight classes are mainly hardcores.

True. Personally I think he tried going the "humble" route but it didn't pay off. He has the skill and power, as well as the style to please the masses but sadly his division has very little pull and his non existent personality drags his dreams and hopes down further.

The only reason you even care for 122 is Rigondeux. Be honest but yeah, I agree with you regardless of how much I love following the smaller weights.

In a sense he is a "Mexicutioner". He has beaten Estrada before but there are many variables that indicate a different fight would take place in the rematch. I personally believe Estrada would take him down this time around too.

Yup, I think he'll max out at 118 and those are his intentions. He recently said he wants to reach and acquire a belt at 115 this very year and could possibly chase one more belt in one more division in the future. Thus making him the first Nicaraguan to become a 5 weight division champion, however 118 is still a relatively unkown division for most fans and generates low interest amongst the casuals. Pacquiao was a phenom, Roman is absurdly talented and skilled but is too far behind Pacquiao's accomplishments and historic weight jumps to even come close to achieving what he did in the sport. Also, Pacquiao had a nation of over 110 million people on his shoulders and carried it with enthusiasm and charisma, Roman on the other hand, not so much.

I have all the confidence in Gonzalez considering he has done everything that people said he could not - whether he achieves his financial goals or not its for the good of the lighter weights and he should be commended that people are actually talking about them ; but instead he gets hate - LEGEND.
Well for the most part the only people talking about him are the same people that knew about his existence prior to HBO. Simply because his stature has been raised amongst boxing writers doesn't generally translate to elevated star status in the sport itself. Look at the top ten PFP list, excluding Pacquiao how many names are considered household?

Add to the matter the fact that HBO is developing no other name in the division and hardly mention anyone else campaigning in or around the Roman's weight class and you would be hard pressed to give an answer as to how exactly Roman's success has been beneficial to the lighter weights. Is Roman benefiting from being on HBO? Sure. Are the rest of the talented young fighters in or around his division? Not at all. If you didn't know about them before you sure as hell won't know them now and that's the primary reason why HBO even gave Roman a shot and put him against rather washed up opposition while commentating his one sided beat downs as if they were something spectacular. Because they knew hardly anyone has any idea of who or what they were watching, therefore they could create any image they wanted and potentially manufacture a new "exciting Gatti list" star.

I voted no he gets neither but I think he deserves both. Hell, he is one of the two or three best pfp fighter in the world. He might be the best fighter in the world. Smaller fighters often don't get the respect I think they deserve.

I think Roman could max out at 126 in like 5 years.

Featherweight is where the money is for the smaller weight classes.

Tell RG to get a better promoter then. That was Roc Nation's doing.

I'm a fan and I hope he gets the most he can but 2 Million is not realistic for his weight Division lets be honest. Smaller guys are great for Undercard Fights but you will not get Casuals to pay to watch Little Guys

You can barely get Hardcore Fight Fans to tune in and watch them

That's great and fine but it's HBO so your there for shows movies and boxing so I'm pretty sure your gonna watch it considering most boxing fans wanna catch as many fights as possible so they pay that monthly subscription. dont forget that fight he had on BET that did **** numbers and was in Essence free. No monthly subscription just basic cable and people didn't wanna tune in. If I remember there was other fights on that night but that goes to show his drawing power sucks. But if he's the only thing on you'll watch kinda like an infomercial lol

Also wasn't that fight after a 18 month layoff or something so I'm sure there was interest from that. But as for Roman here I think if he has the potential to at least do as good as donaire numbers wise when he was on his super win streak.

I think he deserves it but he most likely wont get it.he's only 28 he so there's still a chance especially with hbo backing him. the man is the best in the world hopefully he rematches estrada and then fights inoue this year and gets that fourth belt.

The only little man to be a genuine, cross over star and PPV attraction was Prince Naseem. You could mention Barrera and Morales but none of them were making the money a prime Naz made and they didn't come close to it even after he retired. So what in the blue bajoojoo is Gonzalez smoking?
