All these Russians buying up property in London don't seem to be that poor.

Property in London is a good investment and a good place to park billions, if you don't want to keep it in Russia because you fear for it losing value in any investment that could be made there.

He is not poor, but is he willing to make a poor investment that has no hope of covering the cost and can he just flush millions down the toilet at this moment

Well these Oligarchs are not part of the government (officially) so they are free to spend on who or what they are like for the most part. Theres no way he's going to put in a crazy bid like before, but he can easily win a purse bid. He wouldn't be losing that much, in the grand scheme of things, even if Povetkin were to lose. If Povetkin wins, big business. It's a risk I can see him very much taking, especially as his boxing stable (World of Boxing) is expanding quite a bit.

He can certainly do what he wants, but I would be willing to wager he got some government money back on that Wlad deal since that was a prestige event.

He has the money but he is in a tricky spot because he can't make the money back that will be required to win the purse bid and Wilder is very important to Haymon because all that applies to Wilder as well as Povetkin.

He could win because it is a personal choice at that point, but I just don't think it is a foregone conclusion.

Drive the price up during the Purse bid, make them pay a ton of money, hope that Vladimir Hryunov shows up with his Check Book and walk away from this thing with a TON OF MONEY all together. He is the Champ so what ever the Bid end up being he walks away with the most money.
