  • Comments Thread For: Sanchez Eyes Golovkin Breaking Hopkins' Records at 160

New York, NY - The job of keeping Gennady Golovkin focused falls in line with the 2015 BWAA trainer of the year, Abel Sanchez. Sanchez has guided Golovkin from an unknown commodity from Kazakhstan training in Big Bear to one of boxing’s biggest stars.

record this, record that...belt this, belt that

    JUST FIGHT CHALLENGE YOURSELF
see if you can get canelo, offer jacobs, bring up a credible 154lber, but if u get neither make 168 your stomping ground
take some 1 or 2 acclimation fights.. put on the weight in a good way
and then go for jack and degale...
u'd get way more props from the fans imo

Trainers and promoters have different goals. Abel is a student of the game and wants to make history. Loeffler wants to make money. If the choice was BJS and the WBO belt or Carl Froch, Loeffler would pick Froch and Abel would pick BJS

This isn't even fair?? Hopkins had to beat Trinidad, Oscar, Joppy, Holmes. Did I mention 40-0 Felix Trinidad in NY!!! And who has ggg beaten??? This is going to look like Barry Bonds record but without PED's. Ggg might technically get the record but if he fights 21 tomato Cans well all know who the REAL record holder is....

So far GGG should not be mentioned in the same breath as B-Hop! I hope he gets a shot at Canelo in 2016, and hopefully Jacobs in 2017!

Look at who hopkins had beaten at same amount defenses that GGG has now. Its very similar.

GGG has canelo should have had cotto and martinez and will likely have lara and julian williams. Add saunders .

Thats to start over the next 3 yrs.

The fights where he was the regular WBA title holder don't count, how can you have 2 world champions for the same org?

Gennady still has a ways to go and plenty of time for financial interests to derail this trajectory and move him up in weight.

I personally always enjoy it when fighters stick to one weight for a long time and become the king of the division. I hope GGG stays put, once there's an undisputed champ then all roads should lead to one guy.

Jacobs, Saunders, Canelo, Eubank Jr, Lara, Charlo brothers...

Plenty of fights to eventually be made at 160, the MW division is heating up.

The MW is heating up but only because the lil guys are stepping up. The current list of true MW's outside ggg still suk! They are all C fighters.

                    A+ Ggg
                    A CANELO
                    B+ Cotto
                    B Lara
                    Jacobs B-/C+
                    Saunders C+
                    Quillin C
                    EUBANK C
                    Lee C
                    Lemuix C

The last 5 guys are all basically a tie. And Lara would probably beat Cotto With how old he is. Fighters 2-4 would be competitive has heck. But since Canelo beat #3 and #4 he BETTER fight GGG in Sept. And keep his word..Oscar is the only one who us trying to hold that fight up. Im hoping Canelo tells him to F-off like he did with Lara.
