I don't like Wards inactivity and the fact he is heavily favored against an undefeated contender who just KO'd Murrat. He is going to be rusty and can't help but look ahead to the Kovalev fight the way things are set up. The recipe is there for an upset. I wouldn't be saying that at all 2 years ago but this Ward has to show me he is still the P4P world beater. I will be watching the Barrera fight and will not be the least bit suprised if it turns into a very difficult night of work for Ward

Besides, allowing Ward to acclimate himself to the division only enhances Kovalev's legacy should he defeat him....
But Ward wanted "lil g" to move up to 168 and take him on in his first fight while Ward was considered the best guy in that division.

I always felt this fight wouldn't happen... Duva will find a way to screw it up, as always...

True, but only after Sanchez claimed GGG was ready for anyone from 154lbs - 168lbs. I think GGG should have been entitled to a tune-up before facing Ward....unless he wanted to face him at 164lbs.

Problem is Sanchez talks too much and put GGG in unfair situation that required his camp to backtrack on their words.

Actually, I see why you guys are salty
Ward chose inactivity. Now he needs tune ups and interim fights.
He just lied about being injured and pulled out of a fight in November.
              He is 10lbs of **** in a 5lb bag.

For one, anyone at 154-168 was long ago, like when Ward was gonna be HW champ by 32 and beat Klitschko. That's when Ggg was B side to everyone. But even then it'd have to be a reasonable deal, which Ward never presented.

kovalev is right.with ward's history of pulling out of fights with bogus injuries and suing his promoter for no good reason there should be doubt about ward wanting to take tough fights.ward's last fight against a good opponent was 5 years ago LOL.

No , i don't realize that. LHW is 164lbs and above. 178 is the cut off. Another pound over and you are in HW terrority. 164 is below the professional SMW limit which Ward campaigned at all his carrer. You don't have that weight class in the amateurs , that's why a pro MW/SMW will be classed as an LHW amateur. You haven't got the slighest clue what you are talking about.

True, but Ward was referring to his future goals, not the present. Sanchez's statement boasted of what GGG was capable of at that time.

In regard to Ward offering GGG a reasonable offer, he couldn't or wouldn't because he was embroiled in a contract dispute during that time.

At the end of the day I think both sides were merely posturing. During that time Ward probably couldn't have made the fight even if he wanted to and GGG never intended to face someone on Ward's level his first time out at 168lbs.

I'm over it though and look forward to seeing Ward vs Kovalev. Good luck to GGG in finding a signature opponent at 160lbs....
