Nobody said that, GGG just didn't show any interest in moving up at all and preferred to wait on a Canelo fight that won't happen before May 2017, Ward didn't want to wait this long without a big money fight so he moved up.

What made GGG also look bad is the Chavez jr/ Froch situation and then the ridiculous catchweight proposal.

I wouldn't have had any problems with GGG doing what Ward is doing right now, which means for him that he moves up to 168, get a tune up or 2 against solid opponents, then fight Ward this summer or maybe later in the year, GGG and his camp however didn't show any interest in anything of that nature and that's why the fight never happened.

Btw GGG fought at 165 as an amateur.

That's why Sergey said 'take your time' in the post fight interview. Once they're further ahead in time we'll see them talk seriously about it and Ward will probably open his big mouth which will be funny to see Kovalev respond brilliantly like he always does.

Why, GGG haters think he should jump right up to LHW and fight Ward.

Besides, Ward isn't unfamiliar with LHW. He was LHW in Olympics and fought at 178 in amateurs.
This particular thread isn't about GGG however, like other popular boxers he has his share of trolls; unfortunately it comes with the territory these days. As a fan of boxing I enjoy his fights and don't agree with everything he gets criticized for.....GGG does need to reel back his attention seeking trainer though.

Back to Ward, his camp stated years ago that any move up would be done in a calculated manner. This was made clear even before Kovalev became the biggest threat in the division. People shouldn't be surprised Ward is sticking to his plan, he normally does, even to a fault.

You seem to have a decent understanding of the sport, are you suggesting that Ward's temporary move to LHW as an amateur (Olympics), almost ten years ago, somehow prepares him for an opponent like Kovalev.

He's 100% unfamiliar with the weight since he never fought there in his life. Professionally he has more fights at 160 than he does at 175. Olympic and amateur weight classes are totally different.

Ok so Ward does need the 2 more fights then...that had been a topic of debate recently..we know about March so hopefully he comes back in July then setting up the November showdown..

Ward has been so inactive and injured lately that I could see it getting pushed to this time next year...either way, it's a great fight between 2 top 5 pound for pound fighters and we don't get that often...

Ward hasn't fought more than 2 times in a year since 2009, when he fought 4 times.

If Ward looks good against Barrera I can see him resting up and taking on Kovalev in November...big if though.

Great, so when the fight happens, nobody can say " too big doe" or " wasn't his natural weight"

Good for us..... November marked on my calendar

GGG suggested he jump straight up to 168 to fight Froch, Chavez Jr. and now Hopkins. So why not jump straight up to 168 to fight Ward?

FFS, I've never cared if ggg needed prep to adjust. You are incredibly insecure as a fan.
