So you consider his win over Lara legit. You can't have it both ways, either it's a win for Lara or a win for Williams. Doesn't matter Williams doesn't make Lara resume better. He was unaccomplished and even then wasn't a great talent. He was already washed up before the accident and his career thus far wasn't anything to write home about.
GGG is better than Lara and Williams.
And it's pure ******ity to think and argue GGG being scared of Lara but willing to fight the bigger, stronger, more accomplished, MW champion of the world Martinez who actually has a win over Williams by KO in 2. And too compare their resumes is asinine.Comment

Lara/Trout are 1-2 in every rankings organization. That fight was a near shut out. There is no question who the #1 guy is at the moment.Comment

When one isn't laid out he looks average. Molina, Vanes, and Angulo all troubled him to great degree. I refuse to believe GGG was willing to fight Martinez in 2012 when he was less experienced but has doubts about fighting Lara who's less accomplished than Martinez.Comment

Lara can show sincerity moving up by simply fighting a nobody at middleweight, not a cab driver after another. The last one of which was a blown up welterweight. It's an insult to people's intelligence when you're claiming to want 3G, yet don't even have any desire to make fights leading to a 3G fight. Fights with zero issues in them.
Claiming to be somebody without backing it up with action is meaningless.Comment

Him and GGG are only #1 because it's easier to argue in favor of them being #1 so that's why they ARE considered #1, but certain match-ups haven't been made yet for ME to give either guy that distinction. Lara lost to Canelo, drew with Molina/Vanes and beat Ishe/Angulo. Ideally, Canelo would be considered #1 but he's too busy messing around @155 and you can question whether Lara's loss even counts against him because it was technically above LMW. With the Charlos/Andrade/Smith on his heels, Lara has the opportunity to prove he's actually earning the #1 spot he's been given. I know most have a #1 for every division, but I don't. I'm waiting for the LMWs and MWs to clean up their damn mess. If Lara had all the belts and GGG had all the belts, then I would probably agree. They need to do their best to tie up all of the loose ends.Last edited by kiaba360; 02-21-2016, 02:07 PM.Comment

My thing is all of sudden Lara is some beast just cuz he called out GGG...but as coon as the fight gets signed people will say he is just another victimComment

Most of this guys have no confidence in Lara winning but hope he can stretch GGG the 12 rounds and end his knockout streak. That would be a victory within itself for them.Comment

Yes there are promoters. The problem is Lara's promoter is doing nothing more than posting tweets. That's not how serious negotiations are started.
What double standard are you referring to in my original comment? I made the point that if Lara was serious about a GGG fight he should move up and grab a MW strap. Fight Jacobs. Or at the very least do something more than tweet...actually contact GGG's team or show up at a press conference like he did when he wanted the Canelo fight. He's not done any of these things which shows me he's not serious about wanting to fight Gennady.
as you can see in this thread we're discussing what Lara has accomplished along with competitive comparisons to other fighters, and what a fighter does to get a fight. In the context from which you originally responded to my comment(s?) I stated that Lara called out Alvarez in the post fight conf. Nelo vs Angulo. Most of us boxing fans like this! Therefore, Lara should in theory get points innit? And more importantly, let's not forget it happened, as if all boxers do that. Now if you think boxers don't need to do that well then that's just opinion and you can't prove that it's better than the other. This is boxing.
You are also pointing the finger that Lara's management about tweets, and again, as if the Lara never called out a champ live ala Canelo, so who cares about tweets. Boxers do it. It's part of publicity, and again, Lara is exempt from any ducking theory for the sheer fact of the Canelo Lara incident unless you can point out that other boxers don't do this.
Remember, Abel said that nobody knew of Lara after he fought Alvarez, yet in the same interview, he's referring to Monroe Jr. as a choice. Sanchez is the staple of crap when he starts making up excuses, especially when both GGG and Sanchez, all videos on Youtube, state ''154-168'' is easy.
As a boxing fan, if you don't find that comical than I don't know what standards you hold in boxing.Comment

I find it laughable that people are arguing about this because wtf is GGG doing that is any better? Golovkin fans are either ******ed or in denial. Not sure what it is but Golovkin's resume sux, it's not getting better any time soon. And him fighting Lara certainly doesn't hurt.Comment
