Andrade is a nightmare matchup for Cotto and he would likely get paid the same amount if not less than he would fighting Provodnikov. Cotto is in cash-out mode right now.

Even though this is a cherry pick type fight, I would not be surprised if Ruslan can do damage to Cotto. Ruslan has a wicked overhand left that I think would land on Cotto at times and he is an aggressive inside fighter. What other super aggressive inside fighter has Cotto fought? Margacheato, that's right.

I could see Ruslan closing the distance on Cotto, trapping him along the ropes but it would likely take at least 3 or 4 rounds to get there. I think the longer the fight goes, the worse it will be for Cotto in that respect but Ruslan needs to work on that defense because he isn't that hard to hit.

I don't think that Cotto can stop him though because he has a chin of steel.

Cotto doesn't need to be a stepping stone for an up and comer. Andrade will have size, power, range and size. It's a dumb fight for Cotto. That's like accepting the Trout fight. At least Trout had a title.

Provo would be a fun fight for fans and they are both around the same size. Cotto doesn't need to be fighting bigger young lions. He gave his best to Canelo who was too big and too strong and too prime. WHy jump into a fight w/ Boo-Boo. It's dumb. Cotto should fight the likes of Maidana, Provo and then retire.

I like the fight - it's a good bounce back fight for Cotto or even a nice retirement fight for him. Good with either. He doesn't need to do the young lion dance any more, he's proved that he's good enough at this point to hang but no longer good enough to get over the top. Not withstanding the 20 lbs Canelo had - it's no longer necessary. Time to retire. Provo's issue is that he eats 4 to land 1 and Cotto will be the hardest hitter he's ever tangled with. I do see him buckling Cotto once or twice.

Exactly what I was thinking. Cotto pulling a Canelo if this fight happens.

Although tbf I think expectations are lower after a L so Cotto fighting this type of fight is a whole lot different than Canelo doing the same for that reason to me,...but you can't help to see similarities with these opponent decisions.

I like both of these fighters, but If Ruslan can improve his defense and not rely on his iron chin to tough things out, this could be a very long night for Cotto. I watched both his fights with Bradley and Matisse and he is one tough warrior son of a gun. Cotto's been in some battles too but this might prove to be the last one for the FHOF'er.

prov has the best chin in boxing, cotto aient stopping him for SCHIT.

cotto is at the end of his career, he will box ruslans face into a bloody mess no doubt (ruslan likes to eat punches imho) but i would still pick ruslan to stop cotto

Ill buy the fight, fun for whatever time it last. I think that Cotto stops him with body work.
