Let's be honest, slick is used as code for fast and black. That's why guys like Devon and Judah were called slick.

Slick is clearly meant, like you said, for fighters who have great upper body movement and can stand in range and make opponents miss.

Duran was almost as slick as they came. He was a master at staying in range and making opponents miss.

He does a great job of varying the speed on his punches to keep his opponent off balance and not knowing when that left down the pipe is coming. But I think he's too much of a pure outboxer to be considered slick.
I must rewatch the Canelo Lara fight. Looks like I can learn alot from this thread. I never boxed myself at any level but I love the sport and am always trying to increase my technical knowledge, can't help thinking i'm forever at a disadvantage though! Ah well. I'd be straight down the nearest boxing gym only my arms are knackered with tendonitis/RSI. If I ever get healed I'll be taking it up

I remember reading on here that Bradley and Broner were slick. SMH.

If they are standing right in front of you, and you cant hit them or your punches are just glancing they are slick. Slick like they are covered in oil. Its a very simple term.

Probably already been mentioned but it's something that immediately comes to mind for the casual fan when they see a black boxer. It's a stereotype that should be stopped because it's not always accurate. But it simply won't. Black boxers have been the most skilled and impressive throughout boxing history, so the stigma will always remain.

Its a bad stereotype the most skilled boxers have always been the Latinos in the lower weight classes.
