Comments Thread For: Spence-Algieri, Glowacki-Cunningham Eyed For 4/16 PBC Card

The Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) continues to take shape, in spite of rumors (perhaps born of wishes) of the series meeting its eventual demise long before year's end.

Free-to-air Fox saw its flagship network officially enter the fold, launching on January 23 after its cable affiliate network Fox Sports 1 aired its first PBC card last September. The card on Fox - topped by Danny Garcia claiming a vacant welterweight belt with a 12-round win over Robert Guerrero - was the first of 10 shows due to air live in primetime on free network TV.

Mickey Bey, Badoa Jack, and now Spence. Say what you want about Mayweather Promotions but they take the kid gloves off, if you can fight.

I would've preferred Spence Jr. vs. Berto, but Algieri will do. Nice card so far!

That would be a great test for him. Maybe Berto if he gets past Algieri.

Maybe 2017 Brook, Porter or Thurman

Algieri is far better than Berto, Berto would be a step down after this fight.

Spence will be fighting for that IBF title in a few months, whether it's against Brook or not we don't know, but if Brook doesn't vacate, he's losing the belt anyway.

Spence is 26 and just now fighting the first decent fighter of his career who is coming off 2 loses to Manny and Khan and a tomato can win. Good step up but let's not act like he is being pushed fast because he's fighting Algeri who is really a 140lb fighter who doesn't have a single significant win at 147. Algeri is not top 10 ranked at welterweight in RING, ESPN or any credible rankings. And not sure why you lumping Spence in with Mayweather promotions when he has nothing to do with them. This fight will be promoted by Lou Dibella not Mayweather promotions. Spence's last 2 fights were promoter by GYM, TGB. And this is now Dibella. He's a Haymon fighter not Mayweather fighter. I don't think Mayweather has a say in any of the fights he gets.
