Comments Thread For: ****ens: I Know Rigondeaux is a Massive Favorite, I'm Prepared

Even with the benefit of hometown advantage, James "Jazza" ****ens is well aware of the challenge that awaits him. The 24-year old southpaw steps way up in class as he welcomes World super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux to his hometown for their March 12 clash at Echo Arena in Liverpool, England.

Great. Rigo's English debut. Then come Quigg or Frampton. settle Super Bantamweight once on UK soil once and for all. Frank Warren doing it right, missing Rigo.

There's always something intriguing about fights that put a great but ageing boxer up against a young, hungry opponent.

I keep thinking about a fight like that which is part of British boxing folk-lore - John H Stracey against another Cuban great, Jose Napoles, for the WW championship of the world.

Stracey fought Napoles away from home in Mexico, where Napoles was based, and nobody gave him a hope of winning.

Before the fight, Stracey said, "Whatever happens, nobody will be able to say John Stracey swallowed it." And he was true to his words.

Stracey went after Napoles from the first bell, got up from a knock down and went after him again. And, in the 6th round, the old champion crumbled and Stracey had pulled off one of the biggest upsets in boxing history.

Any outcome is possible in boxing, and ****ens has something Stracey didn't have, which is home advantage and a home crowd cheering him on.

No way Jazza loses this fight. Rigo looks more and more shot every time he fights. He's chinny, old, slow and a ****.

Jazza takes him out via KO inside 9 rounds.

****ens does not have the punching power to keep Guillermo at bay. Hope he pushes Guillermo to the limit though.

So you know Rigo personally? ok, thanks for letting us know he's a **** then, unluckily for you your boy Jazza will get dissected, you see, to beat Rigo you need power to be able to make him respect you or you need to be capable of outboxing him, Jazza has neither.

Nationalistic pride is a good thing, but you have to keep your feet on the ground. Rigo is gonna destroy this second rater

I hope so. Last bout Rigo did himself a disservice on the spotlight undercard.

No, his management did him a disservice by accepting a fight on two weeks notice after eleven months of inactivity, I understand they were desperate for a fight but this kind of dumb crap hurts a p4p like Rigo way more than it helps him.

I dont know how they got that spot, but I guess HBO were desperate because that's the exact same type of performance they hate. lol. I'm all Rigo 100% don't get me wrong. Rigo fought C level that night. Very unfortunate, especially for an undercard under Cotto vs Canelo. But the Vargas vs Miura bout was soo soo good.
