I think, and this is certainly just a laymans understanding in this, the main thing is Waddell and Reed made a bunch of questionable investments with peoples money, and the PBC is one of them. They aren't the sole reason for their troubles, but they are part of it.

      100%.

The biggest problem boxing has is its audience is growing older & few cats under 35 give a **** about this puzzle of champions & rankings the sport has or the marination of every half decent fight. Boxing needs to grab the attention of younger cats who just wanna see top guys fight each other NOW!!! & just about everyone in boxing are ignoring that fact & keep acting like Haymon or Floyd or something else they've deemed bad has effed up boxing.

One interesting thing I've noticed is more MMA sites are talking more about boxing & writing boxing articles these days so I think if boxing would quit playing they have a built in new audience of MMA fans just waiting to become more into boxing than they are already. The thing with MMA fans is they are fight fans quite often. There are a certain percentage of MMA nerds who follow MMA, boxing, muay thai, grappling, wrestling & other martial arts since those combat sports are all a part of MMA. So part of these new fans boxing needs to find are likely to be MMA fans first who haven't really got into boxing fully yet. But boxing needs those new younger fans from somewhere or the sport will continue to get smaller & more niche til its a bunch of 50+yr old guys with heart problems.

Whatever is good for boxing. I don't care about the egos involved. They should all try to find a way to work together.

That's a fair point and you could be right. But Waddell went into the partnership knowing it was a 4 year investment. So it seems odd to me that they would turn off the tap in the first year. Now if Haymon starts dropping guys in his stable then your definetly onto something.

A lot of good news: Another PBC fighter on HBO, Escandon gets a relevant opponent after his bout with Gary Russell fell through, and Castellanos finally returns to the ring.

I think the lesson to be learned here is overpaying fighters for fighting cab drivers isn't smart business, not to mention screwing the sport. Such fighters who used to fight more often are now taking time longer than it used to. The hunger to fight the best is disappearing.

funny part about this is i remember readin' that g.s.m. post on reddit about the financial "woes" of pbc and said they would be dried up at the END OF FEBRUARY.
so now that its the MIDDLE of february and almost to the end we'll see how "true" that g.s.m.'s post really was.
ONLY TIME WILL TELL and i GUARANTEE that PBC will be standing at this time NEXT YEAR

What nice twist by some of these posters.

The reality is that Haymon fighters are everywhere. Of course there was going to come a time where so-called rival outfits would have no choice but to knuckle up against one or two. And this isn't a bad thing for the sport either. Only two more months until PBC runs out of money, right guys? Hold your breath.
