Golovkin could have had the belt last year, he's chosen to step aside twice, he obviously cares more about the $$$$.

The WBC belt on its own is not worth a whole lot. As part of a unification it is -- the whole is greater than the sum of its parts in this case. As for Canelo, yes he wants the $$$ but he also wants the lineal title. If they are willing to go to a catchweight, they certainly aren't going to throw it out there now months before they even get to the table.

Obviously, Cotto was never going to fight GGG. Canelo winning was a good thing. Canelo is the fight they want because Canelo will fight eventually. They lose nothing in letting him keep the belt warm for now. They knew they had the WBO belt and the IBF mandatory to also pursue this year. So, if Canelo wants to parade around as the MW champ for another 7 or 8 months while GGG takes care of other business, they couldn't care less. Now, if Kahn manages to beat Canelo.....

Well I can campaign to be the best middleweight for 15 years. 15 years fighting my way up the ladder. I get to the top of the tree having made 160lbs my whole career. I get a title shot.

'You gotta fight at 155lbs! You gotta cut 5lbs off your 6% body fat, efficient fighting machine frame. Why? Cause I can do it and it'll screw you up.'

******ed and cowardly. Pretty simple really. I genuinely liked Canelo (though was annoyed by his stamina issues) but this has completely put me off. I'm neutral to mildly positive on GGG but from here on Canelo's finished for me.

The belt needs to be freed up for actual middleweights. I don't much care how. In the ring or in the courts. Either way is better for boxing.

Boxing is a business related sport and guys like Ward aren't big names and the only person you can fault for the Ward fight not happening is Ward the direction he took his entire career has been the incorrect one fighting negative, cherry picking bums after bums.
Just know this Ward is a mega talented fighter but he isn't as well known or as successful as Carl Froch poor Ward couldn't fill out a stadium that goes past 20k that isn't in his home, in fact, I doubt he'd even do it in his own home town.
A hard core g string ball gagger just accused someone else of cherry picking bum after bum? Blasphemy!

I think most boxing fans just wanna see the fight at 155 or 160.

I think most GGG fans are in some bs pissing contest with Canelo fans about this fight that are living in denial. Boxing isn't just a sport, its a sport where your value via putting asses in seats or selling PPV's plays heavily into your ability to get fights & get your way when making those fights.

With that being how boxing works any idiot could see GGG is gonna need to bend more to make this fight than Canelo will need to bend regardless of middleweight history or weight limits so you either wanna see GGG as the confirmed #1 guy in the division via all the belts (I already see him as #1 tbh) or you wanna see GGG vs Canelo & thats the choice K2 & GGG will eventually be forced to make.

very simple answer to very ****** question:
Canelo should fight at 160 or drop the belt. If chooses to drop then fight might happen ad negotiable weight later on.
