I actually think Canelo is a vastly underrated fighter by most, his skill set is much better and varied than he often gets credit for.

Also, fights against Mayweather, Lara, Cotto and Trout by age 25 suggests he's the opposite of protected. He's gone out of his way to make fights that people claimed he would duck due to the styles.
I kind of agree, lots of people are quick to call him a bum because of judges scorecards in fights and his catchweight demands.

It's true, he does get some crazy scorecards and I hate his fear of 160. BUT........ He is far from a bum. I thought Lara totally embarrassed himself against Canelo with all of his running. Canelo almost folded him in half on several occasions.

You can see his talent level but the crazy scores that he gets which he doesn't even need and him campaigning as a MW while forcing MW boxers to drop to 155 or WW boxers to come up are all disgusting.

Protected? I'm sure ODLH wants to keep him all safe and cozy but besides GGG, can anyone name a boxer that he even came close to ducking? He forced ODLH to make that Lara fight.

The Khan voluntary is an absolute joke though, smh. It's one of the biggest cherry picks in a long time. Up there with Floyd/Berto.

At least Berto was in Floyd's weight class

Even if he didn't weigh as much as he does, it would still be a bunch of bull. Floyd gets criticised for getting a catchweight he didn't ask for (golden boy offered the damn catchweight), and a catchweight he couldn't even make (weighed 150lbs), but this guy gets a pass for five catchweights in a row all in the name of ducking people his own size?

It's pure bull, this guy is a damn fake.
I'm in agreement about catch weights. I hate them. But you're going to tell me his last 6 fights haven't been great? Starting at Trout and ending with Cotto? Stop.

Not overrated, I'd say underrated, based on his resume and skills. Overrated is the middleweight boogeyman. Look at his record and where he's rated.

I was a fan of Canelo until the Khan fight was signed. He needs to vacate the middleweight belt if he's not gonna fight opponents at the limit. His attitude is disappointing.

What do his Mexican fans think about this 155 thing?

He's only been middleweight champion for a few months. How could he have ducked all those other fighters already?

He has wins over Trout, Lara and Cotto. If you are protected you don't even fight guys like this. If you are overrated then you don't beat fighters of this quality. Are the Mexican fans that love Canelo ignorant about boxing? I doubt it. Mexican fans love him because he fights top guys and takes the fight to them and wins. Canelo is on many top ten pound for pounds list of places that rate boxers. Is he avoiding GGG? Yes but so is everybody else. You dislike him so much that you started this thread. It must drive you crazy that he becomes a bigger and bigger star after every victory. He is one of the best paid boxers in the world for two reasons. He is an exciting fighter and he is a damn good fighter.

I think he's okay but I keep seeing people bring up angulo and cotto. Why does he get credit for those fight? Angulo isn't a good fighter and cotto is a past his prime smaller fighter? His resume good but it irks me when people mention those name.

Mayweather didn't want the 152 pound catchweight but Canelo's promoter made him do??????? That is total BS. Canelo wanted 154 and so did Oscar. Mayweather wanted 147 but he settled for 152 and not an ounce more. Get your facts right. Kirkland fought at 156 in the fight before Canelo. Angulo fights at 160 now. Lara is a big 154 pounder. No title was at stake and they agreed to 155. These weren't tiny guys. They were as big or bigger than Canelo. Do you honestly think one stinking pound gives Canelo this huge advantage over a big 154 pounder? I sure don't believe that.
