Such an honor was supposed to go to Tureano Johnson, who scored a decision win over Eamonn O’Kane in their title eliminator which came on the Golovkin-Lemieux undercard. No sooner than talks had begun, Johnson was pulled from the running due to a recurring shoulder injury that requires surgery and an extended absence from the ring.

The next in line to accept the fight in accordance with the IBF rankings was Wade (18-0, 12KOs), an unbeaten contender from the greater Washington D.C. area.

BTW Wade was paid $500K for that fight. Derevy was never going to make that, probably not even half.

Saying you will fight does not mean you will fight for anything. Jacobs would fight Canelo but he said not at the initial offer.

derev and his promoter already stated that theyll take minimum etc.... they wanted the ggg fight on may 5th cuz they wanted the title

Hopefully not, he was less deserving than Wade.

Antoine Douglass is fighting Soliman next month and a win will put in him into their top 5, N'Dam was also supposed to fight next month and so is Derevyanchenko, so there'll be a list of guys pushing Johnson for next IBF mando that Golovkin will be due for 9 months after the Wade fight.

What was the minimum? And can you provide source? I saw they said they would be willing to fight but I never saw any discussion on the financial numbers.
