Lots of great boxers come out of the Maryland and DC area, and while this is a huge opportunity for Wade it's also a little cringe worthy.

Can't help but feel like he's being thrown to the wolves.

From what I've watched he doesn't look very good... if he did have talent then I don't think Haymon would let him take this fight at all. So yeah he's definitely being thrown to the wolves because they know he won't get very far on the merit of his talent.

i recently heard an interview with Willie Monroe and it seems like he is having major management dispute, his manager is suing him etc. He also said that Wade was one of his toughest fights in the matures.... not that it says a whole lot.

why was ortiz a young lion simply because he beat a crappy berto but yet when wade beats soliman who is actually a more accomplished fighter than berto he's not a young lion? stop with your double standards. ortiz already had lost twice when he was given yougn lion status. wade is an undefeated young lion. there's clearly levels to being a young lion and wade is levels above ortiz who most floyd fans thought was a young lion so if ortiz was a young lion and it was a dangerous fight why isn't wade a young lion as well?

Because Berto was an undefeated top ten fighter back then and Ortiz was hard punching southpaw who was also the wbc world champion.

Sooooo belts are worthless? Is unification a worthless goal? Imagine a future where GGG holds all belts at MW. Everyone at MW and coming up from JMW will have to go through him. If Canelo gets stripped, what is he going to do? Never be in a championship fight again until GGG retires? Is BJS going to hide forever with his belt overseas? The truth is Golovkin's quite comfortable at MW and could easily stay there for the remainder of his career. Seems like critics want GGG to be prepared to fight any guy between 154 and 168 at any time and completely on their terms. Who else in boxing is held to this standard? In a fight that's easy to make, a Lara win over Jacobs at MW gets him a shot at Golovkin. Why is Lara not begging for this fight?
