And when he systematically dismantles Kov what will you say or will you ignore the fact and just keep harping that GGG is the best?
You are hoping Kov does what Baby G was afraid to accomplish or be great.

i dont know why i was expecting him to say that it would be easier for barrera since ward is actually gonna fight someone his size. He actually had a classy response

time to get in with guy who will likely fight you

Personally, I don't think Andre Ward did the same at 168. He's curiously never been very vocal about fighting a 168 pounds belt holders like DeGale, Badou Jack (or even the Direll brothers).
However, he's a tremendous fighter, the way he fought the bigger Edwin Rodriguez showed his enormous skill set but at my opinion he has not cleaned the 168 division, which is getting better...
if there was anyone he didnt beat it was bute...but froch ko'd bute...so ward would get very little credit for beating the leftovers of a man that he schooled..
dirrell dropped out of the fight with ward due to injury and was not back until late 2014 early 2015..he is still very inactive today

It's not like they're going out there beating guys convincingly.
Both are good young fighters who are finding ways to win. I have enjoyed both of their journeys to the top of the division and when they meet it will be great for boxing. But neither one is some special talent. Ward is! (I also think GGG is special too; can't wait until he stops Canelo in 6.) But don't try to make biased arguments because of your fandom for GGG.
Remember how he was chilly to go in UK recently to fight Froch. But in the same time GGG, Kovalev, Lomachenko and others are always fighting outside of their country. They always have a disadvantage...
But now that Ward is fighting (trying to fight...) in light-heavyweight, we will have the confirmation or invalidation of his greatness, because in that division there is a lot very good eastern european fighters (Kovalev, Beterbiev, Shabranskyy , Egor Mekhontsev, Oleksandr Gvozdyk, Dmitry Bivol) . And as his speciality is to fight some non-US fighters in his own backyard in USA, he will have the big choice...
I would be convince only after his fight against Sullivan Barrera. Same for GGG with Canelo... but for Kovalev I'm already convinced.

(2) Save that eastern bloc propaganda for someone who cares. Boxers are boxers. I don't care what country they're from. Ward has done things in boxing that very few in this generation has. He's at LHW (and working for success) to join the likes of Mayweather and Pacquiao and the rest of the all time greats. Its going to be fun watching him try.
(3) Kovalev is a very good fighter, but I have been told by many people from Slavic countries that he is not the real deal (pointing to his amateur career) and that GGG and Beterbiev are, so I'm not sure what to believe. I know that he has done well for himself up to this point, but I also don't think he has beaten any truly great fighters yet (w/ the exception of a 50 year old Hopkins who is WAY past it, but was able to beat LHWs (pascal, etc.) who are not very good).
