I don't see HBO dropping boxing unless subscriptions drop drastically and people just start watching everything on their tablets and phones.

They seem to have settled on a formula of giving their guys very easy TV fights. They get decent ratings with this formula so there doesn't seem to be a reason to change course.

So can we come back to this post in a year, and if [when] you're proven wrong, you'll agree not to make any more ******ed posts for a month?

Never but I do think they will scale back which will mean more glorified mismatches for affordable prices. HBO was better when they would pick up the best fights and Broadcast instead of now signing multiple fighters to exclusive deals and not having any Legit Opponents for them

But if this DIVIDE among promotes, networks, managers, advisers or what ever continues, Boxing as a WHOLE will be in serious trouble. You can't want one side to fail and one side to succeed and expect this sport to survive. No other sports fans are doing this besides Boxing Fans.

HBO is the king! However Showtime hopes they drop it.

The thing is, HBO is a movie and TV show channel. They just aren't suited for sports. Look at their hit show, Game of Thrones. It's such a popular show and damn near everyone watches it. They make tons and tons of profit from it's popularity alone. But what about boxing? What do they get from that? Zero, squat, nada.

My only hope is that PBC opens its door to 3 guys in particular from HBO, them being Roy Jones, Hopkins and Max Kellerman. 3 superb commentators who don't deserve to lose their jobs because HBO can't seem to produce profits any longer. It's not their fault that HBO refuses to make good fights anymore.
HBO is the home of boxing. They seem to consistently do good numbers, consistently turn a profit.

Boxing in general seems to me to be a front for laundering some dirty cash though. Consider Bradley vs Rios or Kovalev vs Pascal. How the hell can ratings of about 1.4 million max justify the combined purses? It's insane. The same goes for PBCa except way worse. How can ratings of 2.4 million justify the purses of Garcia and Guerrero combined? There's got to be some dodgy stuff going on. Anyway just my 2 cents.

Here we go again with these silly predictions. Who would forget when the flo-mo community predicting HBO's demise and Showtime taking over? SHO hardly made fights last year. What the hell happened? I rarely see Bernstein and company. These guys should switch to football or golf or something.

There is no correlation between facts and what a posters avi is. SO far this year HBO's signed fighters fought/are scheduled to fight Pascal rematch, dominic wade,Tim Bradley 3rd fight, hank lundy and amir khan at 155.

I see your point about the match ups Dunn, but as long as HBO can keep guys under contract, HBO boxing is going nowhere.

Agreed. I see no reason for HBO to drop boxing given they get decent ratings with this formula. This was the point I made that he responded to.

As a boxing fan, I just hope they make much better matchups, same expectation I have for PBC/Haymon.
