I think Khan-Canelo will probably do pretty well on both sides of the Atlantic. US ppv sales will probably be 400-500k at a minimum. In the UK I think it could potentially do 250-500k also, even at ****** o clock in the morning, the hype machine will be huge on Sky, and its one of those fights where one fighter is in serious danger (Khan) and is a massive underdog fighting for the middleweight title trying to make history. There is nothing the Brits love more than a massive underdog story. I think they will eat it up over here.

Even at the levels I have mentioned above which are conservative, both fighters would make upwards of $10 million I feel. Retirement money.

Obviously doe Canelo is getting paid every fight now & Khan is gonna get paid nicely for this fight. And like the other guy mentioned I've heard it suggested Khan will be getting some of the UK PPV money. The reality is this is a business and people don't tend to throw out all the details of their business immediately out in the public so I doubt anyone knows all the details except the relevant parties.

Honestly doubt that there actually ends up being any UK PPV money, tbh (Sky Sports backs Eddie Hearn, who also just saw Khan's choice of fighting Alvarez in Vegas (3am, UK time) further delay their chance to air Brook-Khan in the UK(primetime TV in UK), in an event that could rival the interest that was generated for Froch-Groves II.

Unless BoxNation has a PPV option beyond their channel charge (US/International fight cards have basically been the lifeblood of their programming), there's likely to be no UK PPV for this fight.

Ha no way! Fight of this magnitude and you don't think anyone is going to pick this up, you're mad! This will be picked up by Sky for sure, not that Warren won't be interested, he will be outbid by Sky, whenever there is a fight this big he is normally outgunned.

Eddie Hearn has very little to do with this, his contract with Sky isn't exclusive. Sky will cover fights that are big enough and where they know there is a profit to be made, they will be all over this.

I was curious how much the purses are because the same ppl crying Khan isn't fighting punchers now saying this is a cash grab. $ is obviously part of it, but not all of it. It is after all prize and not pride fighting (no pun intended).


Khan makes around $10 million or so vs Brook, which is a more winnable fight comparing it to Canelo and the circumstances around the weight.

Khan likely negotiated a flat fee(with some tickets for the event thrown in), with Alvarez getting his own take on the upside of the fight.

BoxNation pays for the UK rights, Alvarez's Mexico TV pays for the Mexican rights, MGM Resorts throws in their site fee for the fight, sponsors pay for placement on the event, and the PPV money gets thrown in on top of all of that. Then you figure the expenses.

Khan gets his fee, costs of putting on the event are determined, various costs of promoting the event are determined, and everyone with a piece of anything on the event gets their share. At the end of that, whatever is left in the pot is net revenue, of which 'Canelo' splits with Golden Boy 85/15 (Canelo likely walks into the fight with a guaranteed purse as his base), assuming that Canelo's camp was sharp enough to not let Oscar con them into giving up any extra share.

The UK box office is really the X factor in the equation when it comes to fighting big UK fighters. When Ricky Hatton fought Floyd I think in the end Hatton actually made the bigger purse, or they were very similar because the US income stream was split 65-35, but Hatton kept all the UK money and the UK ppv buys were mental. The fight sold 1 million buys. That is why Bob Arum was prepared to accept 50-50 when it came to Pac-Hatton even though that didn't sell as well.

Now in this equation its hard to know what will happen, Khan doesn't have the selling power of Hatton, and his record on ppv has been patchy. But he also hasn't been in a fight of this magnitude. I am sure that Oscar would have considered the UK income stream though when he was thinking of a fight for Canelo. I actually think this fight will sell well in the UK, not Hatton well but significant.

its not 100% about money, but most of it is.. Ive said before his ego would be destroyed if he lost tok brook.. but theres no shame in losing to a big ass middlewight since hes still belongs at 147

Its always risk vs reward. All fighters claim they will fight anyone when they are young and hungry, until they are the draw and the one other fighters are aiming at, then they start acting like the fighters they criticised in the past. Seen the cycle repeat itself so many times. There are very few fighters who actually fight THE FIGHT throughout their career.

I question Khan's popularity in the UK, but I think the bar is so low with UK PPV that someone for sure will pick this fight up. I mean Joshua just had huge success with a PPV that sold 400k buys iirc. Regardless of how huge or not Khan is in the UK I think there is a nice upside for whoever decides to get behind this fight & it'll be a profitable venture for all parties.
