Actually, both of those issues have been overstated for far too long.

The cheating allegations in the Kessler fight, and Ward fighting in Oakland..... have both been badly overstated.

It's kinda like rehashing that old Pac/Floyd stuff.

I agree that Ward could, and possibly should, have rematched Kessler in Denmark..... but I don't agree that Ward's refusal is justification for Kessler to withdraw his offer, or that fighting in the US would make any difference whatsoever, to EITHER guy.

If anything, Ward may have been disadvantaged in Denmark.

The point is..... Ward was the champ, AND Kessler lost that fight..... so the possibility of a rematch being staged in the US should not be considered out-of-the-question, or even unreasonable for that matter.

And, it would not matter where they fought the rematch, the location would make little/no difference to either guy.

It depends what version of Ward we get if the fight does actually happen. The Barrera fight should be a good indication on whether Ward is the same as he was after his lengthy spell off. A fully fit and healthy Ward schools Kovalev imo

Barrera's certainly a step up from Smith as he'll actually be showing up to win. I say let Ward have his one or two tuneups. Anything so there are no excuses if he gets KdTFO. But I have a feeling there will be excuses if he loses...rusty, past his prime, the weight, etc...

No matter, even if he goes through with fighting Kovalev and loses I will give him a ton of respect. Glad he's getting back in the ring.

i would have given him respect for facing kessler froch rematches at their homesoil, to show he is not depending on his homecookings ,but he wont even do VADA testing for the big fights, smells fishy ... that and his previous partnership with Victor Conte the master magician of PEDs

Ward can make any excuses he wants if he loses but barring a complete robbery I dont think the fans will accept any of his excuses (I certainly wouldn't).

Ward will make easy work out of Kovalev. He's superior in every aspect aside from power. But power alone doesn't get you anywhere. I'm not saying Kovalev has no skills, but Ward is just better in every bracket.

Kovalev has a far better jab, and a better jab to the body, and right hand. And the chin aspect needs to be talked about because Ward can't hurt Kovalev but Kovalev can obliterate Ward's glass jaw at any moment.

As I said earlier, there is some truth to what you are saying, no question..... just not enough truth to justify bashing Wards accomplishments.

The solution for your - somewhat valid - point..... is to complain to the commission (with supporting documentation/video evidence)..... AND, to raise the same subject during your meeting with the referee just prior to the Barrera bout.

They should likely do that just to try to get in Ward's head.

But the Oakland thing is weak, they would be best to completely forget that.
