Comments Thread For: Kovalev's Coach: If Ward Can't Hurt Sergey, He's in Trouble!

It remains to be seen if Ward preserves his speed and allusive ring versatility at 175. But one thing is clear: Ward doesn't like to be hit hard.

      True, but........

Andre Ward has known his limitations in the power game since the Super 6.

His style before that tournament was different... He made adjustments tailored to the reality of top notch competition with solid whiskers.... That success means we should give him the benefit of the doubt when stepping up against elite competition....

I would assume he understands what Kovalev brings to the table and will adapt accordingly...

His shoulder injury is well healed by now and that might make him more dangerous than before...

I'm inclined to believe that this will be a difficult fight for both of them regardless.... If Andre Ward takes a loss here, it won't be because he wasn't properly prepared.... It will be because Sergey Kovalev is a dominant beast...

We'll have to wait and see....

Jackson has a point about Wards power. But what ive seen with Wards particular style, its not about power and more to do with position; He capitolizes on his ability to make his opponent set and reset...rather, not allowing his opponent to reset and scoring before theyre able to. Im riding with Ward in this one. Kovalev wont be able to find his rhythm in this fight and wards gonna be right in front of him all night.

This ain't no slow guy in kovalev

Ward looked good against some guys, Kessler took him lightly, Carl Froch ALWAYS has problems with guys who box

Kovalev ain't Carl Froch, he's a lot quicker than Carl and hits way harder, he doesn't have Carls durability but that won't come into play in this fight

          Ward gon get cracked

Ward will make easy work out of Kovalev. He's superior in every aspect aside from power. But power alone doesn't get you anywhere. I'm not saying Kovalev has no skills, but Ward is just better in every bracket.

When you have the power Kovalev does, you only need to land once or twice to change the fight, he hits so hard that even if he doesn't take you out he saps you, weakens the legs, slows you down.

By the 2nd or 3rd round Ward is going to get clipped and it'll change the dynamic of the fight, from that point on it'll be if ward can survive or not, winning will go out of the window.

Ward is much better than a 50-year-old Hopkins and Kovalev didn't hurt him the entire fight. He scored a flash knockdown and that was it.

Uncle Tom David Jackson is worried about Ward...he can fool a lot of people but he can't fool us ALL... I think Unc is a good trainer and all but he's more than a little concerned about how to deal with Ward...it's only natural to be having these feelings when you're about to send your soldier to war against the BEST opponent he's EVER faced
