Why no huge boxing event night before SuperBowl?

I just got finished watching the Warriors vs. Thunder game, and that got me thinking, "Why doesn't boxing jump on this ship?" Two of the top 4 NBA teams facing off against each other, in the same city the night before the SuperBowl.

Their were celebs in the audience, so you'll have a nice turnout. Dave Chappelle and Beyonce and her husband were in attendance.

Surprised Haymon, Arum or De La Hoya haven't hopped on this opportunity,

I don't know why boxing doesn't take advantage of more US holidays for big fights. July 4th fights used to be huge back in the day. I think the US market needs to hijack a holiday & make it a big fight holiday.

All these promoters and networks hate each other. If there was any money to be made, someone would be doing business tonight.

There is always money to be made with the right fight.

I seem to remember some fights happening around the Super Bowl, but nothing major..not a yearly thing like you're suggesting.

Part of the reason why it doesn't happen is because the headlines on Monday will be all about the Superbowl, and not the fight. (Not that I'm ****** enough to think the headlines would be about boxing anyway, but you have to give it the best chance to make news).

Boxing executives aren't too bright. The Jonas Brothers will piggy back off the Super Bowl but boxing won't.

Boxing is already a niche sport. Would be hard to generate the interest with so much going on probably

Plus there's hardly any good fights early in the year

                    simple:

-Super Bowl is in January/February, as an event/holiday all to itself.
-For the better part of the last 20 years, boxing ha focused on monetizing their biggest matchups on PPV, not seeing the benefit of terrestrial TV

The PBC effort, if it proves successful, will likely take advantage of the timing of future Superbowls (though likely competing against MMA).
