It's a new era now anyway. I hope he stays retired and the funny thing is, at 40, he would still school the guys of this new era.

If he did fight on and lose in the near future, it would be down to age anyway because none of the other fighters around his weight can tie his shoe laces. So even if he wanted to retire to protect his 0, so what? it's not like he's retiring young. He was p4p number 1 then retired at an age when most guys are retired or shot to pieces.
You keep bringing up Floyd's age and yet, at the same time, saying he would "school" the guys of this new era.

Well, if that's the case, he should have done that before he retired. He had opportunities to fight Thurman, Porter, Brook, and Khan and he still didn't take them. He had no excuses to be fighting Maidana or Berto.

Of course, we also know that Floyd isn't going to fight anybody without having everything else working in his favor first and if that's going to continue, then I'd rather he DOESN'T come back. Either let the real Floyd fight or just forget about him.

I'm saying at 40 i think he still beats the rest of the division. But at the end of the day he is very old for a boxer and should retire because he really doesn't have anything to prove. Lets be honest though, if he beat Porter, Thurman, Khan or Brook, people will just say they never fought anybody and weren't that good anyway. I'm not even a Floyd fan but the guy can't really win whatever he does. If he doesn't fight people, they say he's a coward, when he does beat people then they say the opponent was never any good to start with.

To be fair, plenty of people were happy with the Maidana fight after he beat Broner, plus Maidana was a champion so it's not a bad fight really. Not that Broner was ever that good but people still wanted to see Floyd fight Maidana after that win.

The Guerrero fight was a worse matchup than Maidana, and I agree with you about Berto fight. If he is genuinely retired and that was his last fight then i'll say fair enough, it's a farewell exhibition, let him have it. If he was to come back now, i think we have to say there was no excuse for that fight.

MAYWEATHER is damn near 40 years old and out of his prime for goodness sakes. He was ready to quit after the canelo fight. People would have been saying he was ducking maidana after that huge win over broner.

Guerrero was his mandatory so even if he wasn't a stylistic threat for Floyd, I don't think people had a problem with him taking that fight. However, Thurman is a better opponent than Guerrero and he too became his mandatory so if Floyd really could have beaten Thurman, then it's more worth going out like that than beating somebody like Berto. I am well aware some people are quick to say a boxer was never that good if they lose and I'm sick and tired of hearing that myself but I don't think that would be the case with the top guys in his own weight division.

It must have been VERY few people who wanted Floyd to fight Maidana. I remember before fight, people were already saying it was going to be like the Baldomir fight. This is obviously why the PPV numbers weren't that good (from what I heard). Broner was no Mayweather of course and people knew he was going to be exposed eventually. They just didn't think Maidana was going to be the one to do it but still, in noway did that justify getting a fight with Floyd. This is why I didn't waste my money on those fights.
