If Ward really wanted to fight Kovalev, he could have done it last weekend. He was offered the fight, but "what's the rush"? right?

Ward, Kovalev, Main Events, and HBO have been saying for months now that the plan was for the fight to occur later in the year. Ward signed a contract outlining this. So why now is it that he if he "really wanted to fight Kovalev" it could have been done last weekend. When was he ever offered this fight? A mixture of BS and terrible logic leads to post like yours.
