I think a PPV fight in Vegas against a big name was on Khans Bucket list...Once he loses he can fight Gracia or Brook maybe just retire he is semi-retired anyway.

The Groves vs Froch fight broke the UK record for fight revenue and it was something like 22 million pounds. ( 35Million dollars) they had 77,000 fans,900k ppvs, and all the drama of what happened in the first fight.
In contrast Canelo vs Canelo in Vegas sold the same ppvs, had a fraction of the crowd and made 39 million pounds (58million dollars).

I just can't see Khan making more fighting Brook than Canelo. Much less Khan makin double that against Brook.

I dont know all I can say is Khan has the highest celebrity profile of all the other three Groves Froch, and Brook and he is consistently making headlines in both the front and back pages of newspapers, and gets more TV appearances. He is known better as a celebrity then as Boxer these days. And a lot of British fans like to see celebrities pulled down a peg or two, so yeah majority of revenue would come from British fans wanting to see Khan lose to a rival British fighter.

So if the fight is not worth that much then Hearns should not make such claims on TV and in Public, then use propaganda that Khan is turning down a massive payday and ducking Brook.

Khan has every right to call him on the figures he has been uttering in Public,
Eddie Hearns has been consistently trying to goad Khan to take the fight
by Mocking him and ridiculing him in public and on social media, and its backfired massively.
Look I don't have an issue with Khan doing his own thing....he's free to fight who ever he wants......but in the same token canelo is not....he's the middleweights champion of the world and he is calling up a lower ranked top 10 welterweight who has shown vulnerability even at a lower weight...and your talking out your ass in ragrds Khan having more strength ....he has shown to have less strength as welter weight so how is he gonna get stronger when he rises another 8 pounds....it's impossible and it's also highly likely that when he puts them extra pounds in he will be more lethargic and less speedy which means he will be taking consistently heavier shots.......Khan has taken an opportunity in fighting canelo and fair play to him....this is not about Khan....this is canelo taking the p1ss and showing no respect to the middlweight fighters in that division and choosing a walk over for a defence against a far lighter opponent who Bears no risk to him.....you can't seem to grasp but it's a mismatch.....

Thats what Virgil Hunter claims, the articles on the Boxing News website.

So a tall fighter who is struggling to make weight and dehydrating himself to make weight at a lower weight division is going to have less resilience.

I remember Oscar de Lahoya getting knocked down by Jimmi Bredahl I believe at Super Featherweight. His resilience improved as he went up.

Similarly Miguel Cotto once he moved up from 140.

Freddie Roach had Khan move up from lightweight as soon as he took over, he claimed Khans punch resistance would improve and it did improve for a few years (he took great beatings against Maidana and Lamont Peterson) until he faced Garcia.

And during his last three fights at welterweight his been caught flush but his legs did not do the Samba.

So if as Virgils claiming that Khan has recently started to struggle in making weight and has been weight drained so moving up by 8 pounds might help then I am sure there is some veracity to that.

At least psychologically its gonna be a lot easier in training not having to cut the extra weight.

I personally believe a fighter should fight as close to their walk around weight as possible, this business of cutting 20 to 30 pounds each fight is not very healthy in the long term. The likes Pacquaio, Mayweather, Hopkins, and Froch have shown the value of fighting as close to the walk around weight as possible .

Looking at the recent video of Kell Brook his looking very gaunt, like a heroin addict, its time for him to consider moving up.

If khan gets blown away like Adrian Stone against Mosley I will concede it was a Mismatch, or if he takes a one sided pummeling like Paul Smith against Andre Ward with out any resistance I will also concede that it was a mismatch.

But if he puts up an exciting and brave performance no matter how long the fight lasts then he will deserve respect and be fully worthy of credit, thats my position.

I fully appreciate what your saying about Canelos approach of searching out the highest profile name from a different weight class with the least apparent risk. I think Oscar conceded that the likes of Gabriel Rosado and Willie Monroe just do not have the Profile for a Cinco de Mayo weekend PPV in Vegas. Fighters probably need to take great responsibility for their marketing
to make waves, unfortunately thats how the Boxing economy works.

Read hearns tweet he basically dodge Brooks because he priced himself out. They were only thinking they would make 12-13 million euros together but you guys somehow made that into 16 mil for Khan himself. Yes dudes chasing money not glory.

I agree - It's not Khan's fault for taking the fight, more Canelo's for offering him the fight in the first place.

People love to say **** like this, but the reality is this is boxing & you can end up brain dead on a hospital bed for $5,000. This is a dangerous sport where everyone in the ring has an increased risk of getting killed any time they fight.

And again I say respect to Khan for taking this fight. After thinking about this fight & digesting it a lil more I think its probably the best move for Khan money-wise overall. Okay sure he's getting paid nice for this fight, but we're all expecting him to get KO'd so this is a no lose situation basically & he'll still have paydays afterwards with Brook or whoever & I tend to doubt the Canelo payday would be there if he would fight & lose to Brook so he's insuring more big paydays by taking this fight you could argue. And then there is the actually chance he wins, which I can't see, but there is always the chance for an upset in any fight however small, and how huge he could be if he could do that.

I still see this as an awful & embarrassing choice by Canelo & Oscar that feels on par with the Josesito Lopez fight without all the late notice & opponents falling out situations that fight had that made Lopez the eventual choice & a more forgivable situation.
