Comments Thread For: Amir Khan: I Will Be Around 165-Pounds For Canelo

One thing about the fight is sooner or later Khan will have come down of his toes.....it's impossible for Khan to stay on his toes for 12 rounds....canelos has quick hands and good timing and amir biggest fault is his tendency to stay to long in the pocket and then exchange punches.......canelos feet has always been slow for sure but Khan has never had the reflexes of Floyd mayweather and Floyd was able to use his upper body to make canelo miss......amir Khan if he gains more weight and is 165 that's a lot more weight to carry over 12 rounds and it's recipe for disaster because he will slow down also it's not good to quickly add 10 pounds to your frame and expect it to help you....Khan has no chance in this fight and canelo will just break him down by the 8th round....I expect Khan to do well the first 4 or 5 rounds but the power and weight difference is too much.....I'll bet anybody that Khan don't go beyond 8th or 9th round....don't be surprised Khan also gets koed when he gets caught with a first really hard shot canelo landsYea, as i was watching the fight, i noticed how piss poor Canelos footwork is
Lopez stayed inthe pocket, with a high guard and Canelo to hit him with brutal combinations. Canelo has some decent hand speed though.
Khan will have to use his legs, his jab and reflexes. If he stays in the pocket for even a second to long, he's going to feel some serious pain.Comment

I'm English and I know he his going to get knocked out...I see no way Khan can win this fight....he doesn't have the intelligence or the disclipline to stay on his toes for 12 rounds against a great timing puncher like canelo....Khan has the same formula every time... Come in quick combination then back out again...circle then again a flurry and back out......canelo will just time him and land accurate body shots and then Khan will slow down ...be in the pocket for a second too long then he gets tagged and he hits the deck.....100 percentComment

You are not completely aware what the word fact means, are you? Basically all of your points were assumptions, not facts. These are facts
- 165 will slow Khan down both in his feet and hands.
- Khan doesn't have anywhere near the footwork people are giving him credit for here.
- Canelo will eat Khan's punches like candy.
- Canelo has fought guys closer to his size that had both hand speed and foot speed. Canelo offsets that with excellent timing.
- Khan has been BADLY hurt in several fights against guys not considered punchers. And damn near killed by actual punchers. He's never been hit with anything close to what Canelo will hit him with.
- Watch Algieri vs Manny, and then watch Algieri vs Khan. The end.
DON'T HYPE THIS FIGHT. People seem to be falling for it already.
Im actually happy that people are taking a dump on this fight.. Even more tastier when Khan does very well.
If the sizefactor is removed, I would easily favor Khan in this fight. Now im thinking it is about 50/50 maybe Canelo having a edge becouse of the weight. Canelo is not the prodigy people seem to think he is. Well, he is popular.. That is more important to fans.. Like you.Comment

Khan will have to hope Canelo will be hitting a little less harder towards the second half of the fightOne thing about the fight is sooner or later Khan will have come down of his toes.....it's impossible for Khan to stay on his toes for 12 rounds....canelos has quick hands and good timing and amir biggest fault is his tendency to stay to long in the pocket and then exchange punches.......canelos feet has always been slow for sure but Khan has never had the reflexes of Floyd mayweather and Floyd was able to use his upper body to make canelo miss......amir Khan if he gains more weight and is 165 that's a lot more weight to carry over 12 rounds and it's recipe for disaster because he will slow down also it's not good to quickly add 10 pounds to your frame and expect it to help you....Khan has no chance in this fight and canelo will just break him down by the 8th round....I expect Khan to do well the first 4 or 5 rounds but the power and weight difference is too much.....I'll bet anybody that Khan don't go beyond 8th or 9th round....don't be surprised Khan also gets koed when he gets caught with a first really hard shot canelo lands
Canelo does have stamina issues and tends to go to sleep in some rounds
Khan will have to force Canelo to burn unnecessary energy, frustrate him, stick that jab in his face, hit the body.
This is a very difficult fight for Khan because of Canelo's size, power and combinations
Also will Khan have the power to keep Canelo sweet? Hunter thinks so.
Floyd did manage to sting Canelo a few times, which made Canelo gun shy, and we all know Floyds hands have been pretty much shot to pieces for sometime now. I think Khan probably hits as hard as Floyd.Last edited by FrankieBruno; 02-04-2016, 01:29 AM.Comment

Lara fight had a controversial score, 117-111
He got a draw against Floyd, other judges scored 117-111, 116-112.
He got funny scores against Cotto, 119-109, 118-110
Unless he gets KO'd, Canelo will get the decision thanks to his big pervert brother Oscar.Comment

Khan might have fast hands, but he throws from the waist if he throws more than two punches in a combination, leaving him open.
Khan might have decent footwork, he can't control distance at all. He gets closed down and trapped by positive fighters (even Algeri did it).
Sooner or later Khan gets tagged and usually loses his discipline when he does.
I just don't see how he lasts the distance if Canelo fights a positive and aggressive fight (like Chavez Sr, someone said).Comment

I'm not convinced you can just walk through someone's punches just because you're the bigger guy and the opponent isnt a Ko puncher.
You have to be that kind of fighter and Canelo isn't really, he's a boxer puncher not a face first pressure guy.
So why he won't get Koed or rocked by Khan it doesn't mean getting repeatly punched in the face doesn't hurt.
The only guy who really walked through Khan consistently was roided up Peterson late in that fight and he still needed points taken to win.
I see it being a competitive boxing style fight but now and then Khan will get rocked and its whether he can survive that and not get stopped or lose points to knocked downs. If he can he has a chance.Last edited by Furn; 02-04-2016, 05:04 AM.Comment
